INTRODUCTION
Dhofar Integrated Services Company S.A.O.C (“Owner / DISC”) serves the people of Dhofar
governorate, covering electricity, water, and wastewater. The company aims to raise the
quality of these services and make them more efficient, reliable, and accessible. It is
expanding the service network by adopting strategies that reduce wastage, improve access,
and achieve customer satisfaction.
Therefore DISC contracted with Galfar Company to implement the proposed lines in Dhofar
municipality irrigation network, Galfar has contracted Consulting Engineers AAW & Partners
to prepare the Hydraulic Model of the existing pipelines and proposed pipelines and
detailed design drawings for proposed pipelines.
The objective of this report is to present the final results for the Dhofar Municipality TSE
network after incorporation the proposed pipelines to existing pipelines. Figure (1.1)
presents general layout for Dhofar Municipality TSE pipelines.


The technical data is listed in below Tables.

Project components are described in Dhofar Municipality TSE network Schematic.

Hydraulic Design Criteria
Network analysis shall be undertaken using advanced computer software (WaterCAD
Connect edition update 3). Transmission lines will be designed using Hazen-Williams
formula for its proven accuracy and adaptability over a range of pipe sizes. This formula
can be expressed as:

HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS
The Dhofar TSE transmission pipelines have been simulated using WaterCAD Connect
edition update 3 as follows:
-
Routing of TSE pipelines (Existing and Proposed) are taken from Master Plan Drawing
provided by DISC.
-
TSE pipelines are modelled as pipes with lengths and diameters. Junctions are added
along the pipeline at approx. 500 m spacing to simulate the pipelines profile.
-
The elevations are taken from available topographical survey for proposed pipelines
and from as built drawings and google earth for existing pipelines, pump stations
and reservoirs.
-
Pump stations are modelled as reservoir and a pump with required elevations.
-
Pump curves are simulated as one-point curve with duty flow and head. One pump
is assumed in operation in each pump station.
-
Flow control valves (FCV) are used at inlets to pump station sumps to achieve required
flows.
-
Figure (4.1) shows the node diagram of the simulated pipelines.
Steady-state analysis is carried out for TSE transmission pipelines. Appendix A presents
hydraulic analysis results.
5.
CONCLUSIONS
From the hydraulic analysis (highlighted in green color) it can be concluded that:
 There are negative pressure at the end of line 6 and line 7.
