MIDTERM ORAL TASK
Course: English 5
ABOUT THE TASK
• Topic: “Talking about the people I love”
• Interaction: pair work/group work
• Timing:
- Pairs of students should talk for 6 minutes. Both students should speak for equal
amounts of time.
- Groups of three students should talk for 9 minutes. The three students should speak
for equal amounts of time.
• Deadline: As indicated in the course calendar
• Assessment criteria: Read the rubrics to check how your task will be graded.
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE TASK
Talk about two people you know well (people in your family or close friends).
In your conversation, do at least 4 of the following:

Talk about the relationship these people have with you.
Compare their personalities; how similar or different they are to one another.
Talk about the things you like about them and what traits in them (or things they do)
annoy you.
Talk about the things they like and hate.
Talk about the things you used to do together before, but you don’t do now.
Talk about the challenges they have faced in their lives.
Talk about how these people react to changes in their lives.
Talk about indoor and outdoor activities you do when you are together.
1. Use proper vocabulary and structures:
- Grammar: past habits, present habits, comparative structures, relative pronouns,
superlative, ungradable adjectives, present participles, adding emphasis: so … that,
such … that, even, only, real conditionals, conditionals: alternatives to if
- Vocabulary: personality, strong feelings, facing challenges; describing annoying
things
2. Test your video works well before uploading it. If you use an external service like YouTube,
also test the link before posting it.
3. Submit your video. Read specific instructions about how to do it.
Note: If you use www.Youtube.com to make the video, change the video privacy setting to “unlisted” so
your teacher can view it but not strangers on the internet.
