Undergraduate education at LUMS comprises three essential features: The first is the university core courses that all LUMS undergraduates study because these courses cover learning considered essential for all students, irrespective of their school. Second, each student specialises in a major offered by their specific school to develop depth and expertise in one field of knowledge. Finally, students also take ‘outgroups’ – courses in fields different from their specialisation – to acquire broad exposure to other fields of human knowledge.
