$7K mo online business roadmap

advertisement
$7,000/mo with a high-ticket service business
Hey. Saurabh here.
Today I’m going to break down how I have generated over $40,000 in
revenue from my one person business using just twitter and emails.
I consistently hit $5,000-$7,000 every month.
While working 4 hrs/day and without using cold DMs or paid ads.
date recorded - 17th Mar, 2024
But in order to know how we got here, I need to tell you a bit about myself.
Until last year, I was working a fancy corporate job with big tech.
I enjoyed my work, the pay was good, the job came with perks and status.
But I wanted more in life.
I wanted a life of freedom and meaning.
A life where I didn’t have to wait for weekends to live.
A life where I could read a book or go for a walk on a Tuesday afternoon.
A life where I could build something I love.
And that’s exactly what my business helped me do.
I went from working 12 hr shifts and being stuck in traffic.
To working 3-4 hrs/day, building something I love and having time to do
things I enjoy on a daily basis - reading, lifting, walking etc.
If you’re looking to make a similar transition, I think we will get along.
But the journey wasn’t always straight forward.
I started writing online in Jan’23.
At the time my only focus was to post content daily and build a network.
I reached 700 followers in a couple of months.
But I had made no money.
This made me realize the first red pill of building online.
Follower count alone means nothing.
You need to know how to turn traffic into revenue.
I met profiles with 30K followers making no money.
And I met accounts under 500 followers making $10K/month.
So, I put together a coaching offer based on my writing skills.
By June, I was helping my clients with both writing and branding.
I was helping professional athletes, CEOs build their personal brands.
But then I noticed something interesting happening in the market.
As I was talking to people, I realized there was a major problem.
People were having a hard time monetising their brands. They were able to
write engaging content and grow but they were not able to make money.
Soon my clients also started coming back to me seeking help with
business. They wanted to learn how I land high-ticket clients effortlessly.
So I showed a few people how I did it and it all took off from there.
We have generated over $40,000 in revenue.
Now we are consistently hitting $5,000-$7,000 months.
My business is at a great place right now.
- I’m working with amazing people - doctors, engineers, marketers
- I have complete control over my time and location
- And am on track to hit $10,000/month pretty soon
The best part is clients are winning as well.
- S, an expert in yoga and meditation, made over $4,000 last month
- A builds client systems, he closed a $2,000 deal on his first call.
- M closed a $3,000 DFY deal without a sales call
There were multiple other $1,000-$4,000 wins along the way.
Now these wins didn’t just happen by chance.
They happened because we followed a simple but effective strategy.
Everything here is something that I have applied myself.
And now I am documenting it so you can replicate it for yourself.
I’ll show you the exact strategies I use to hit $5,000-$7,000 months while
working 4 hrs/day without spamming cold DMs or running ads.
However this document is not for everyone.
● If you don’t have a skill or real world experience, this is not for you
● If you are looking for a “get rich quick” scheme, this is not for you
● If you’re looking for hacks and shortcuts, this is not for you
● If you’re not willing to put in the work, this is not for you
Then, who is this for?
● If you have a coaching/consultancy or service based business but
are struggling to land high-ticket clients consistently, this is for you
● If you have a small audience and a high value skill but have no clue
how to turn it into a profitable business, this is for you
● If you have a service based business but have a hard time scaling it
past $1,000-$2,000/mo, this is for you
● If you have a proven offer but you don’t get clients without spending
all your time and money on cold DMs and ads, this is for you
● If you want to build a business online but don’t know how to
package your skills into a high ticket offer, this is for you
This document will likely only be helpful if you have skills or experience.
Here are some examples of people it will work for.
1. Coaches - sales, health, leadership
2. Experts - writers, copywriters, email marketers, funnel builders
3. Experience - tech, product, marketing sales
If this sounds like you, I will work with you to build a profitable business.
I’ll help you add $3K-$5K/mo to your online business.
Without wasting your time on 200 replies or 400 automated DMs everyday.
I have limited slots but if you have a skill and are serious, you have a shot.
DM me the word “PEAK” if you are interested in this.
But you probably want to know about my methods, so back to the doc.
My vision - life and freedom
I am a bit of a rebel.
I don’t like following the crowd. I like doing things my way.
One of the many reasons I quit my fancy corporate job to build online.
My business philosophy revolves around 3 core pillars 1. Freedom
I started building online because I wanted a life of freedom.
Very little freedom when you’re in front of a screen replying 200 times/day
or sending 300 cold DMs/day.
I am optimizing for life and revenue, not impressions.
This is why I ignore the typical guru advice you find online.
2. Sustainability
I am in this game for the long run.
It doesn’t make sense for me to do something I would not enjoy doing for
the next 5-10 years.
I definitely don’t enjoy doing social media busywork.
I would rather have assets and systems in place that get me consistent
revenue than hustle for every sales.
3. Constraints
I like working with constraints.
Not being able to work more than 4-5 hrs is a constraint. Only working
with people I vibe with is a constraint.
These constraints push me to come up with creative solutions. Solutions
which help me run a profitable business the way I want.
My goal wasn’t just to build a profitable business. My goal was to build a
business in line with my philosophy.
And the high ticket service business model helped me do that.
High-ticket service business
People who are new to the online game come in with a lot of false beliefs.
One of them is that the best way to make money online is by selling
courses or low ticket products.
But that’s not true. Low ticket products will only work if you have massive
traffic (>100K followers) or the ability and finances to run ads.
If you want to make life changing money and scale quickly, a high ticket
service is the way to go. You can use low ticket products as lead magnets.
In this model we turn our skills/interests into a high ticket offer.
You make a solid income while working with just a few people.
Not only can you pick and choose your ideal clients, you will also have
plenty of time on your hands after client work.
Moreover it’s much easier to sell a high ticket offer to a few people than a
low ticket offer to many people.
Not to mention the low operational effort and high profit margins.
Your high ticket service doesn’t have to be coaching/consultancy. It can
be DFY services like copywriting, email marketing, web designing as well.
Sounds great, doesn’t it?
A high profit, low operational effort business based on your interests.
So, let’s get straight into how we can build one from scratch.
The first thing you need to start any business is something to sell.
In the online space we don’t sell products/services, we sell offers.
No-brainer offers
The best way to make money online is to solve a critical problem for your
market. You do this with the help of your service which acts as a solution.
But you can’t directly sell your solution. I mean you can try but you will
have a hard time getting any results.
You need to package your solution into a format that seems appealing
to your potential customers. A package so irresistible that your
prospects will almost feel stupid saying “no” to it.
Your solution is what you do. Your offer is how you present it.
Building a high-ticket offer is the first checkpoint we tackle inside my
private community Inner Circle. I show members exactly how to build one.
Why? Because a great offer makes every step of the sales process easier.
The best performing offers in any market have 2 key components.
1. They are aligned with the business owner’s skills, interests
2. They provide a solution the market is starving for
Most people nail the first but very few nail the second.
You can be the best at what you do but if you don’t package it into
something the people want you won’t make serious money.
And how do we get to know what people want?
By talking to people. By doing market research.
Market research
Online gurus only talk about offer frameworks. What they don’t realize is
frameworks (or equations) only work when filled with the right data.
That’s where market research comes into play. It helps you find that data.
Market research is the most important part of the offer creation process
but it is also the least talked about because it doesn’t sound cool.
95% of people neglect market research. They assume what people want,
build an offer based on assumptions and soon realize nobody wants it.
You need to understand what your ideal customer is going through.
If you find that out, offer a solution and combine it with the right
positioning, they will buy.
How to do research?
Have simple and straight forward conversations with people in your
audience, network and niche. You can use calls, DMs, and forms.
Ask them about their dreams, goals, challenges, roadblocks.
9 out of 10 times people are open and share this without hesitation
because everybody loves to talk about themselves.
- Their vision for life and business
- Their short term goals
- The things holding them back
- Their beliefs about their niche
Do this with enough people and you will start observing patterns. You will
find out exactly what your ideal customer is thinking and looking for.
You get feedback from the market. Everything becomes easy after this.
1. You can build an offer that appeals to the right outcomes
2. You can position yourself in a way to appeal pain points and goals
3. You can produce content based on pain points and goals
Product market fit is everything.
Crafting the offer
Once you do market research, you will have the raw materials required to
put together an irresistible offer. Now it will be time to put it together.
Every great offer has these components -
1. Offer statement
High ticket customers don’t buy solutions. They buy transformation.
Your offer statement should highlight the transformation you are offering in
a clear and concise manner. It should appeal to a clear end result in a
specific timeline through a specific mechanism without pain points.
The difficulty lies in appealing to the right end result, in a suitable timeline,
with a differentiated mechanism and without specific pain points.
The data from the research will help you solve this puzzle.
Examples of great offer statements - Scale your offer to $5K/mo in 90 days without sales calls
- Lose 10 kgs in 90 days without a crash diet
2. Steps
Customers care about the transformation. But they also care about the
steps you will take to get them there.
Steps don’t have to be super detailed but if your offer has a clear roadmap
it makes the transformation seem more achievable to the prospect.
3. Fulfillment/Tools
Clearly state the method of fulfillment. If it’s a DFY service you do the
work, if it’s a DWY service you provide them with the tools/instructions.
You can also add DFY components to DWY services. These can be
checklists, templates, loom videos etc.
The more DFY components an offer has, the more appealing it
becomes. These components increase the likelihood of success.
4. Guarantees
There is a cognitive bias called zero risk bias. People love to minimize risk.
That’s why guarantees make offers attractive.
Guarantees are a double edged sword. It might improve trust but it can
also attract the wrong type of clients. Use them wisely.
A combination of unconditional and conditional guarantees work well.
Unconditional - “we’ll work with you until you get X results”
Conditional - “if you meet X terms and don’t get results, you get a refund”
Never use guarantees as a selling point.
5. Scarcity and urgency
I don’t let everyone buy my stuff. And my offers aren’t live all the time.
This ensures demand is always more than supply.
And people have an incentive to act fast when I do launch.
The people who make the most money have the shortest sales cycles.
Never use fake scarcity or fake urgency though.
6. Benefit driven language
Every part of your offer should use benefit driven language.
Your customers care very little about your service. What they care about
most is how your service can change their business or life. Focus on that.
Don’t limit this to the offer statement. You can make the steps and the
fulfillment sections benefit driven as well.
Talk to your market and build an offer. However, don't get stuck in this
stage aiming for perfection. The best offers are a result of iteration.
On to the next part.
You can have the best offer in the world but it is useless if nobody sees it.
You need leads who are interested in your offer and will buy from you.
Lead generation
I have an unconventional approach to lead generation.
Growth gurus ask you to post growth content 7 times/day and do 200
replies/day. Their strategy is to wait for inbound once you get big.
Anybody who has run a profitable social media business will tell you that’s
a losing strategy. You don’t wait for clients to come, you attract them.
Moreover the type of content you post when you are obsessed with
follower growth gets you a low quality audience.
You don’t just want an audience, you want a buying audience.
You don’t get a buying audience by posting quotes or growth content.
Your brand should be a result of your business. Not the other way round.
On the flip side you have sales gurus. They want you to ignore your brand,
spam 300 automated cold DMs and hope something happens.
I am not a fan of this approach either. A strong brand is a long term asset.
People hate automated cold DMs. And the conversion is super low.
The best way is somewhere in the middle. I call it the hybrid model. A
model where you leverage the best parts of brand and sales.
As part of the hybrid model, I focus on 3 key pillars for lead generation.
1. Trust with content
2. Human outreach
3. Sales assets
Building trust with content
Every online sale is based on trust. You can’t make money without trust.
Your brand and content should be optimizing for trust at all times.
However I don’t believe in building trust by posting “value” content.
The problem with most “value” content on the platform is that it is
regurgitated advice. It doesn’t showcase your expertise.
The day I stopped posting “value” content, my revenue skyrocketed.
I showcase expertise and build trust using a simple strategy.
1. Shifting perspectives
I often post content that makes my audience go “ahh, interesting, never
thought about it that way”.
You can only do this if you’re actually in the arena testing out
tactics/strategies and building cool things.
When you do this consistently people realize your expertise.
Why?
Because unlike “value” content, you can’t copy and paste this. Insights
only come when you have a level of expertise and skin in the game.
I show students inside Inner Circle exactly how to do this. Helps them beat
their competition in authority even with a smaller following.
2. Build in public
Everyone talks about building in public. Few actually implement it.
Building in public doesn’t just mean writing on social media everyday and
having a link to your website.
It means taking your audience along with you on the journey. I do this by
sharing everything. And I mean everything.
My lessons, projects I’m working on, cool stuff I’m building, behind the
scenes stuff, projects in the pipeline, my wins and my losses.
The best marketing happens from the product, not to the product.
This also gets my audience invested in my journey but also helps build
trust because they know I have skin in the game.
3. Results
Nothing builds trust like competence.
Talk about your wins and your client results often. This type of content
doesn’t usually get the best engagement but gets you leads.
Be smart about how you share wins. Don’t just flex, give your audience
something valuable to leave with. Could be an insight or inspiration.
4. Personal stories
I often ask my clients why they bought from me. A common response is -
“I connect with your backstory and like what you have built. I come from a
similar background and want to replicate what you have done”
My clients know my results, they know I am good at what I do. But another
reason they buy from me is because they connect with me.
This is because I talk about my journey from corporate to a life of freedom.
I often talk about why I left a big tech job to write online.
I share my personality and things I love doing - reading, walking, lifting etc.
AI doesn’t have stories, quirks and personality. Use your unfair advantage.
Want to maximize trust?
Don’t just rely on tweets. Post long forms and emails across these pillars.
Writing 280 character tweets is easy. But you can’t write 300-500 word
pieces on a subject regularly without knowing your craft inside out.
It will skyrocket your audience’s trust in you and your skills.
Human outreach process
As you build trust, people will reach out to you for help. This is a good
sign, it indicates your content is effective. But you can’t rely on it.
You have to be proactive. You can’t wait for clients to come to you.
If you are smart with your content, you will always have people in your
audience ready to buy from you. All they need is a little nudge.
Go out there and talk to people in your audience. Not using automated
cold DMs but using a more human approach.
Get to know them, figure out what they are building, ask them about their
challenges, check if you can help. Pitch your offer if you think it’s relevant.
Make sure you qualify prospects well. You don’t want to work with people
you don’t vibe with or those who have a flawed mindset.
We are big on conversations inside Inner Circle. We have conversation
frameworks for different use cases and objection handling methods.
I truly believe in the adage that conversions happen in conversation.
99% of people don’t know how to do outreach the right way. They have no
social skills, they lack authority or are overly pushy. It’s easy to stand out.
Even 30 mins of talking to people everyday will be a game changer for
your online business. I have had clients close $3000 deals directly on DMs.
Sales assets
Conversation will ensure that your inbox is filled with potential clients. But I
like to use another channel to get my clients leads in bulk - sales assets.
As the name suggests these are assets. You build them once and they get
you returns (leads/clients) for a long period of time.
When launched right, sales assets can get you hundreds of leads at once.
Some solid sales asset options are lead magnets, case study documents,
client interviews, email sequences etc.
Your sales asset should be in line with your offer. The ultimate goal of a
sales asset is to generate sales.
That’s where most people go wrong. They build assets which get them
followers and subscribers but no sales.
You need to provide valuable information, showcase expertise and build
trust but you need to do it in a way that turns readers into clients.
Building sales assets the right way is an art. Won’t go into the details here
because that would become a document in itself.
I show my clients how to build quality assets because you build them once
and get rewards for a long time. A needle moving activity when done right.
Now you have the tools to add $5,000/mo to your online business. If you
want to scale further, you can add emails as an acquisition channel.
I’ve made over $8,000 from emails alone in the last 2 months. It’s easier to
build trust and form deeper connections with emails.
Build your list from day one even if you don’t plan on sending daily emails
or using it for client acquisition right away.
You don’t need emails when you are starting out but it’s good to have a
quality list when you eventually decide to scale.
I have clients making $3,000 - $4,000/mo with just great content and DMs.
Now, it’s time to connect the dots.
My $7K/mo funnel
In a space filled with complexity, I like to keep things simple. I don’t use
fancy websites, VSLs or 16-step funnels. Here is my funnel 1. You solve a problem for yourself, document the process online and
become your best case study
2. You talk to the people in your market, understand their pains and
desires and package your solution into an offer they need
3. You demonstrate authority with content, talk to your tribe, check if
you can help them and sell if relevant
4. You overdeliver to your clients, get them results, keep them longer
and document the process
I love this funnel because every step moves the needle.
While others are busy building fancy websites, logos or commenting 200
times/day we focus on activities that bring clients and make money.
I only focus on what truly matters - offers, acquisition and delivery.
This helps me run a profitable business while doing things I love.
This is why I started building online.
To build something meaningful but to do it my way.
What’s next?
I am on a mission to help 30 entrepreneurs build profitable and
sustainable online businesses by the end of 2024.
Businesses based on their skills where they can work with their dream
clients and experience a lifestyle they enjoy.
Two of my 1-1 clients quit their jobs earlier this year to go all in.
Few others are traveling around the world with internet money.
I want to help others explore these opportunities as well.
If that sounds interesting to you and you’re ready to take the next step, I
have an exciting opportunity for just 1 person below.
I’ll help you add $3K-$5K/mo to your online business in 90 days.
We will do this inside my private community Inner Circle.
It is closed right now. I only open it for a short window every month.
However, I will give 1 person early access for the May batch.
Here’s how it works ● We will build you a high-ticket offer with a clear transformation so
you can charge more while working less
● We nail your content strategy so you build authority and trust. This
will get you strong brand with a buying audience
● I will then plug in my sales system into your business which will help
you get leads and convert them into sales and revenue
This is only for people who have a high value skill or professional
experience and want to turn it into a profitable online business.
If you’re looking to grow your followers or get rich quick, this is not for you.
DM me the word “PEAK” if you are interested and we will have a chat.
You will only get pitched if I think you are the right fit for the program.
We will have a chat and figure out what’s most relevant for you.
DM me “PEAK” when you are ready.
