Questions:
- Is mitochondrial disease an umbrella term for conditions affecting the mitochondria, or is it a
generalized term for a specific type of disease?
- Is the disease prevalent from birth, or does the mitochondria only become abnormal at a later
stage?
- Is there any genetic cause of the disease?
- How does its effects cause symptoms, and why is it difficult to diagnose?
- Are there diseases for other parts of a cell?
- Are there different stages and manifestations of this disease (some infants die at birth)
- What is the cause of this disease, and is there any preventative measures able to be taken to
reduce the severity of it?
- Is mitochondria disease caused by too much usage of energy, or too large of a demand for
energy that causes the mitochondria to misfunction?
- Are there diseases, that affect the nucleus of the cell? (example: cancer)
- Can mitochondrial disease be observed in non-human organisms? Can it be observed in
singular-cell organisms?
Form fits function
- Form fits function means that the form of a certain object or item takes on a shape that will be
the most effective to do the task it was designed for.
Structure
- The physical appearance and design of an
object
- Anatomy
Function
- The usage for something, and what it does
- Physiology
Structure
- Fishtank
- Water filter, oxidizer
- Temperature monitor
- Grass, dirt fixtures
- Light
- Tank
Function
- A fishtank is meant to be a manmade
ecosystem where a fish can survive and live
in it.
- A water filter is meant to cycle the water
that goes through, as the water can gradually
be polluted.
- A temperature monitor is meant to monitor
the temperature of the water to make sure
that it is habitable for a fish.
- The grass and dirt fixtures are for aesthetic
purposes, but also to give camouflage and
safety to the fish.
- The light is meant to make the fishtank
visible, but it is also meant to make it more
natural.
- The tank is there to act as a way to keep the
water from spilling out.
