Learning Task
A. Review
Based on the previous lesson:
 How does technology be used as a way of revealing?
 What are some examples of using technology as a means to an end?
B. Motivation
 The teacher will ask the students questions such as:
 Upon daily observations, what can you say have changed in
regards to the state of the following:

- Technology?
C. Lesson Proper
C.1. Activity – By group
 The class will be divided into appropriate groups depending on
the availability of data connection.
 Each group will be assigned different terms for them to
research online for about 5 minutes. (Development, Dedevelopment, Progress, Sustainable Development, Human
Flourishing, and Degrowth)
 Then the teacher will also give each group appropriate time to
discuss what they have researched about
C.2. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions to the students:
 What have you understood about all of the terms presented?
 What is the relationship between the terms you have been
assigned?
 How do all those terms influence each other?
C.3. Abstraction
Human Flourishing in Progress and De-development
Definition of Terms
1. Development
- a process that creates growth, progress, positive
change or the addition of physical, economic,
environmental, social and demographic components.
2. De-development
- is a novel concept where the developed nations should
reduce their per capita consumptions to help the under
developed countries to suffice their requirements. This
was also brought under the purview of United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP).
3. Progress
- movement toward an improved or more developed
state, or to a forward position
4. Sustainable Development
- is development that meets the needs of the present,
without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs.
5. Human Flourishing
-

17 Goals for People, for Planet
-

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal
call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and
improve the lives and prospects of everyone,
everywhere. The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN
Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for
Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan
to achieve the Goals.
The
Concept
(as proposed by Jason Hickel)
-

the ability to live a good life. Human flourishing
embraces our shared humanity and serves everyone's
interest.
of
De-development
Jason Hickel coined the term Degrowth, calling for a
reduction of resource and energy throughput in rich
nations to get back within planetary boundaries, so that
poorer nations can increase throughput to meet human
needs. It is, in other words, a demand for radical
convergence and global justice.
