ACTIVITY TITLE: Tales Retold: Reimagining Classic Shorts into 21st-Century Wonders
TASK OVERVIEW: Students will work in groups to reimagine classic short stories using three 21st-century literary genres. Each
group will be assigned one short story and will utilize a randomized selection of literary genres to retell the narrative in a modern
context.
Guidelines:
1. This is a group activity. The class will be divided into 5 groups.
2. Each group will be assigned one of the following classic short stories. Each group is tasked to keep the original
message of the story. Only the format will be changed.

3. The teacher will use a Wheel of Fortune or similar random selection method to assign two 21st-century literary genres
to each group. The genres include Illustrated Novel, Graphic Novels (Comic Strip), Doodle Fiction, Flash Fiction
(except 6-word literature), and Text-Talk Novels.
4. The 21st-century literary genre collection may be submitted from March 27, 2024 – April 1, 2024, at 11:59 in the
evening. NO EXTENSION.
5. The first pages must be a copy of the assigned short story with a short biography of the author.
6. The file’s format must be in pdf. It must be uploaded to your section’s Google Drive Folder.
