My experience writing my GP project The topic i chose for my checkpoint Global Perspectives project is feminism. This topic tackles many different spectrums and beliefs, which i decided to challenge myself with, seeing as we cannot pick a side when reporting these topics in an essay. I soon realised how challenging it would actually be, i didn’t even know where to start! A big part of me did not want to go on the internet and search ‘how to write the best essay’, or do research on books, read them, ask around, watch films concerning my topic. But a smaller, smarter part of me raised the question ; what is the purpose of me writing this to begin with? Cambridge could have just let their Year 9 students all across the globe write their 3 main subjects and move on, why submit a thousand word essay? I noticed that when i go out in the world, no matter what profession i take, the basic skills i have acquired when writing this essay will still stand with me. Focus and drive, perseverance and passion, discipline and responsibility…This essay, these assignments, this subject will help me practice the above listed in an unforgettable manner. Therefore, coming up with a perfectly intellectual essay and submitting it is no longer just something i have to get out of the way in order to proceed to upper secondary, it is a part of character development and shaping my responsibility in the future which is the workplace. What makes my GP project a global issue? Every place in the world has a percentage population of females. It is a global perspective that males hold more power as compared to females, and it has been spoken up about in several areas of the world. There are mass feminist movements and women organisations that fight for justice and the rights of women.
