Look at the things around you. What makes you see these things aside from your eyes? Can you see these things without light? Present the lesson and objectives of the lesson. A. Activity 303543@deped.gov.ph Cooperative Learning (Discuss the instructions and other reminders.) 1. Present a picture of the visible light with corresponding frequencies and wavelength. 2. Examine the picture and describe the wavelength and frequencies of each color. 3. Answer the guide questions with your groupmates. 4. Present your output afterwards. Page 3 of 10 Department of Education Schools Division of Northern Samar, Galutan National High School Indicator 1: Modeled effective applications of content knowledge within and across curriculum teaching areas The lesson is related with the lesson in Science 10. Learning competency: Compare the relative wavelengths of different forms of electromagnetic waves S10FE-IIa-b-47 Indicator 5. Exhibited effective practices to foster learning environments that promote fairness, respect and care to encourage learning. Guide questions: 1.Which color registers the highest frequency? 2. Which color has the shortest wavelength? 3. Which color registers the lowest frequency? 4. Which color has the longest wavelength? 5. Explain the relationship between the wavelength and frequency of light? B. Analysis 303543@deped.gov.ph 1. What is the order of colors in order of increasing energies or frequency? 2. How is wavelength and frequency related to the arrangement of colors in the visible light? Rubrics is designed to achieve indicator 5. Using the rubrics, students will be rated objectively. Indicator 3: Modeled and supported colleagues in the proficient use of Mother Tongue, Filipino and English to improve teaching and learning, as well as developed learners’ pride of their language, heritage and culture. Indicator 2. Developed and applied effective teaching strategies to promote critical and creative thinking as well as other higherorder thinking skills. Page 4 of 10 Department of Education Schools Division of Northern Samar, Galutan National High School Using SOLO framework enhances higher order thinking skills among students. Questions 1 is an example of a unistructural question since it requires one response only, while question 2 is an example of a relational question since the response explains the relationship of wavelength and frequency. Stress the concepts Light is one of the electromagnetic waves with a wavelength which can be perceived by the human eye. It is given off by stars like the sun or other luminous objects from our surroundings. Visible spectrum is made up of different colors called as rainbow of colors such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (an acronym of ROYGBIV). Indicator 1: Modeled effective applications of content knowledge within and across C. Abstraction Colors of light or the visible spectrum can be described according to curriculum teaching areas their wavelength and frequency. Through a power point presentation, The wavelength of light is the distance between corresponding points discuss visible spectrum its color and intensity in two adjacent light cycles, and the frequency of light is the number of in terms of wave characteristics cycles of light that pass a given point in one second. The unit 1 per second or Hertz (Hz) is the unit of frequency. W avelength is inversely proportional to frequency of the wave. Waves with higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths, and lower frequencies have longer wavelengths. When the frequency of visible light increases, the wavelength decreases. From the seven colors of light, the red color has the longest wavelength, but it has the lowest frequency among the light 303543@deped.gov.ph Page 5 of 10 Department of Education Schools Division of Northern Samar, Galutan National High School spectrum. However, the violet color has the shortest wavelength, but it has the highest frequency. Therefore, the amount of frequency or the wavelength of light will be determined by its characteristic like color. Complete the sentence. A. Directions: Fill in the blanks with the missing word/phrases on the blanks to make the statements correct. Choose your answer inside the box brightness inversely D. Application frequency directly violet visible blue light red 1. ______it is part of the electromagnetic spectrum that can be detected by human eye. 2.______light has the shortest wavelength but highest frequency in the visible spectrum while (3) __________light has the longest wavelength and lowest frequency. 4. The wavelength of light is the distance between corresponding points in two adjacent light cycles, and the __________ of light is the number of cycles of light that pass a given point in one second. 5. The wavelength and the frequency of the visible spectrum are __________ proportional to each other. Indicator 3: Modeled and supported colleagues in the proficient use of Mother Tongue, Filipino and English to improve teaching and learning, as well as developed learners’ pride of their language, heritage and culture. Using sentence frame helps learners formulate a comment or a response in sentence form. The teacher states an incomplete sentence and the learners will provide the missing words. B.
