As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.
REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
This Service Bulletin is to introduce the application of Nickel under Chrome to improve the protection to
the surface of the Bogie Beam under the area of the Stop Pad.
This Service Bulletin is published to advise operators of A330 aircraft of the issue of MESSIER
BUGATTI DOWTY Service Bulletin No. A33/34-32-306, which introduces procedures to:
-
install a Nickel under Chrome coating to improve the protective treatments under the Bogie Beam
Stop Pad
-
install a new Bogie Beam Stop Pad which will have a reduced thickness to allow for the new Nickel
under Chrome coating
-
introduce a new Stop Pad Bracket.
There is no on aircraft work to be completed. This is an administrative Service Bulletin and must
be reported to AIRBUS as accomplished for technical data configuration when MESSIER BUGATTI
DOWTY VSB No. A33/34-32-306 is embodied.
The modification will be embodied at landing gear overhaul.

SUMMARY
As a technical prerequisite to this Service Bulletin, embodiment of MESSIER BUGATTI DOWTY Service
Bulletin Nos. A33/34-32-307 or A33/34-32-308 and AIRBUS Service Bulletin No. A330-32-3276
(Modification No. 205290H16721) is also required at, or before, Main Landing Gear (MLG) overhaul.
NOTE:
The requirements of VSB No. A33/34-32-306 require that when the VSB is embodied at
overhaul VSB No. A33/34-32-284 is also accomplished to introduce the latest standard
paint scheme to the Bogie Beam bore.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve the corrosion resistance of the MLG Bogie Beam,
and will also remove the requirement for repetitive under Stop Pad inspections mandated by AD
2014-0120 (Service Bulletin No. A330-32-3248).
This Modification Service Bulletin affects the airworthiness limitations of Airworthiness Limitation Section
(ALS) Part 1 which shall be introduced within the A/C maintenance program under the operator

Classification
MANDATORY: Service Bulletin must be accomplished.

Accomplishment Timescale
This Service Bulletin must be embodied before the MLG exceeds 2500 landings or 24
months, whichever occurs first, since its first flight on an aeroplane or since its first flight
after the last overhaul.
This Service Bulletin has been classified Mandatory. It is expected that an Airworthiness
Directive (AD) published by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) will be issued
to confirm this classification. It is anticipated that the AD will confirm the thresholds
given but reference should be made to the AD for confirmation of the mandated
accomplishment timescale.

If an aircraft listed in the effectivity has a modification or repair embodied that is not of
AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of this Service Bulletin, the operator is
responsible for obtaining approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation necessary
before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.

MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also not
included.
