Picture this: You are finishing your freshman year of university and you are beginning to feel regret
because you realize architecture is not the right major for you. After taking the Careeronestop
assessment, you found out that every skill and trait linked back towards you being strong in the
mathematics department. After finishing your second year of university, you admire how accurate the
assessment is! The CareerOnestop self assessment is a practical and helpful guide towards
understanding your strengths and weaknesses, and bettering yourself. In this essay, I will be describing
my key strengths in my abilities and attitudes toward college and careers and my key weaknesses in my
interests, abilities and attitudes toward college. I will also describe how the CSFI assignment reinforced
my views about myself, and what shocked me in the results.
Key strengths in interest abilities


One strength in my interest I have found out through this is assessment is I am clerical. This
means I have knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word
processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and
other office procedures (CareerOneStop). If I had not already known what field I would want to
go into, this information alone would have been very helpful. Because I chose the IT field, the
term clerical and what was described by the website CareerOneStop fits perfectly. One key
strength in my ability which I learned after taking this assessment is I have mechanical,
computer, and electronic knowledge.

Key strengths in attitudes toward college and careers

The assessment stated that my strengths in attitude is I have good negotiation skills. This means
I can bring people together to solve differences. While in college, networking is a key part of the
experience in college that one needs to capitalize one. Although negotiation skills will not
necessarily bring me and others closer together, it’ll help other people out by bringing them
closer together. In return, I might get some respect, which, may give me more friends to add to
my networking.
Detail key weaknesses in your interests

After taking the survey, I learned that a key weakness in my interest is I am not interested in
learning for subjects other than those related to online/IT work. For example, I am not
interested in chemistry, construction and building, biology, writing, fine arts, and medicine. This
is not good because it is good to be diverse and skilled in many areas. Because the survey has
showed me that I have interest for essentially only one thing, I will work on myself. This shows
me that I do not have the best attitude towards college since college is about growth and
expansion. I never thought about myself as closed-minded, but this survey has made me realize
that this is what I struggle with. As for the abilities, I learned that a key weakness in my abilities
is I am not good at monitoring, memorizing, and troubleshooting. As stated previously, a
weakness in my ability comes from only having interest in one subject/field; IT. This will greatly
help my college and career experience in the future because it will allow me to focus on these
areas. In my college work and future job work, I will be in need of a lot of memorization,
monitoring, and troubleshooting specifically because IT techs need to have these areas
distinguished.


what suprised me- After taking the CSFI STAR assessment, I was suprised to know that my time
management is above average. Lately, I have struggled with getting my assignments done way before
the deadline. I have not been missing the assignment due dates (except for in the beginning of the
semester), but I have been putting these assignments off till the very end so that I can enjoy my time
doing stuff other than college work. This leads me to a fact that I already knew. A reinforcing fact about
myself which CSFI stated was my college involvement was terrible. It was a 32, which was slighly below
the watchline. This is something that I will be working on for myself in the future.
