BUILDING TOMORROW’S SUCCESS
At ABQ Sohar, education is a comprehensive journey where our primary
focus is on providing students with high-quality learning experiences to
equip them for the future. One of our key initiatives is the DYP Career
Workshop, designed specifically for students in Grades 8 to 12, offering them
the opportunity to explore and select career paths that resonate with them.
During the DYP Career Workshop, senior students actively participated in an
event facilitated by Mr. Rayed Darwish, the Head of the DYP Mentorship
Programme. This workshop is pivotal as it exposes senior students to a wide
array of career options. Mr. Rayed Darwish's mentorship provides invaluable
insights, empowering students to make informed decisions regarding their
future professions.
A notable aspect of the workshop is the students' commitment to their
chosen career paths through career pledges, made in the presence of their
parents. This gesture aims to ensure ongoing support and encouragement
from home, highlighting the importance of a supportive community.
It was inspiring to witness that nearly all workshop participants were
confident about their chosen career paths. This workshop not only marked a
significant milestone in the students' lives but also underscored the crucial
role of parental support in shaping their future aspirations. It exemplified
unity, cooperation, and shared aspirations for a bright future for our
students.

From the
PRINCIPAL’S
DESK
Dear ABQ Sohar family,
As we navigate the daily rhythms of school life, I want to
address a topic that holds significant weight in shaping the
ethos of our educational community - the importance of good
manners.
One of my favourite aspects of being on campus is the simple
act of greeting or engaging with the students. Every day, as I
experience the warmth of their smiles, hear their greetings,
and witness the camaraderie among our students, I am
reminded of the profound impact good manners can have on
the fabric of our school community.
Our school's motto, "we care," is more than a set of words. It is
a guiding principle that underscores our commitment to
creating an environment where every individual feels valued,
supported, and cared for. However, a motto holds true
meaning only when it is displayed through our behaviour and
interactions with others.
In a world that can sometimes seem rushed and impersonal, taking the time to make eye contact,
offer a greeting, and, if possible, inquire about the well-being of others is a small yet powerful
gesture. These seemingly simple acts of kindness contribute to the creation of a positive and
inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels seen, acknowledged, and connected.
Teaching our children good manners extends beyond the confines of etiquette; it is an essential
aspect of character development. Politeness, respect, and consideration for others are qualities that
will serve our students well in their academic journey and, more importantly, in their future
endeavours.
By instilling good manners, we are fostering a sense of empathy and understanding. Our students
are not just learners of academic subjects; they are also students of life. The ability to communicate
effectively, show kindness, and respect diversity are skills that will play a crucial role in their personal
and professional lives.
As parents, your influence in
good manners at home sets
world. Consistent modeling
elaborate acts of kindness,
community.
shaping these behaviours is immeasurable. Reinforcing the values of
the foundation for our students to carry these virtues into the wider
of respectful behavior, whether through simple gestures or more
contributes to the nurturing of a compassionate and considerate
We should collectively embrace the responsibility of cultivating an environment where good
manners are not just encouraged but celebrated. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a
place where the values we hold dear are not only spoken but lived every day.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in creating a positive and nurturing educational
environment for our students.
With warm regards,
Julie Goble

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS
At ABQ Sohar International School, we adopt an educational approach that centres
around respecting children's rights and integrating both local and international
regulations to safeguard these rights.
The concept of children's rights underscores the importance of viewing children as
unique individuals, irrespective of their age. We do not perceive children as lesser
beings due to their age or physical size. They are entitled to equal respect and
attention as any adult in our community, especially concerning choices that affect
them.

MOBEEN DAY
The Arabic Language is spoken across more than 60 countries worldwide. The Mobeen program is
specially crafted to improve the Arabic language skills of ABQ students and to honor the richness
and diversity of the language. This initiative aligns with a crucial aspect of His Majesty Sultan
Haitham bin Tarik's 'Oman 2040' vision, focusing on preserving Omani identity and heritage. This
direction stems from parental input, stressing the importance of culture and identity.
In celebration of Mobeen Day, the Arabic Department at the Secondary phase organized a lively
event featuring colorful performances, interactive role plays, educational games, special video
presentations, and a range of entertaining activities. The Arabic Department's dedication was highly
praised by everyone. We extend our gratitude to the parents of the participants who joined us on
this special occasion.

ARTISTICbyENDEAVOURS
Grade 1s
In the Grade 1 Art classroom,
excitement and creativity filled the
air as students enthusiastically
began a colourful art project.
Equipped with sponges, paints, and
boundless imagination, the young
artists earnestly started crafting
their own butterflies. Guided by their
teacher, they dipped sponges into a
palette of vibrant colours, forming
intricate patterns on their paper.
Experimenting with various
techniques, they blended colours
and shapes to breathe life into their
fluttering creations.
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES
A UNIQUE APPROACH TO SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION
The educational journey of our first and second-grade
students in KS1 classrooms is greatly influenced by the subject,
Global Perspectives. In first grade, students are actively
learning about environmental stewardship and practical ways
to sustain a green planet. This approach not only imparts
knowledge but also instils a deep sense of environmental
responsibility from a young age.
Simultaneously, second-grade students are exploring data
collection and representation, refining their analytical skills by
creating bar graphs from collected data. These educational
activities not only improve their math skills but also promote
critical thinking, preparing them to be informed and
responsible members of our ever-changing global society.
By incorporating Global Perspectives into our curriculum, we
aim to develop individuals who understand their role in the
global landscape. These educational initiatives lay the
foundation for nurturing a future where our students, equipped
with knowledge and a strong sense of responsibility, can
actively contribute to positive progress in the world.
FRENCH LESSONS
An engaging approach to teaching / learning
learning foreign languages
At ABQ Sohar, we advocate for the immense advantages of acquiring proficiency in multiple
languages in today's globalized world. Learning languages contributes to enhancing mental
adaptability, multitasking abilities, listening skills, and problem-solving competencies. We are firm
believers that language proficiency promotes wisdom, empathy, and cross-cultural comprehension.
Our secondary French lessons incorporate interactive methods that facilitate our students in
mastering this foreign language. Thanks to this interactive approach to learning, our students have
consistently achieved high scores in the IGCSE French Exams over the years.

TREE PLANTING DRIVE
We care for the environment around us. In an effort to make
ABQ Sohar a Green Zone, students from KG, Primary and
Secondary phases participated in the tree planting drive.
Students enjoyed planting trees amidst the excellent weather
in Sohar that day.
The enthusiasm and energy of the young students filled the air
as they gently placed saplings into the ground, and lovingly
watered each newly planted tree. Laughter and chatter could
be heard all around as the children worked together, united in
their mission to contribute positively to the environment.
A sense of pride and accomplishment could be seen on the
student’s faces as they knew that their small but meaningful
actions would have a lasting impact on the environment and
future generations to come.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication to
making a positive impact on the world around them. Thank
you to everyone involved in making our Tree Planting Drive a
resounding success!
