Introduction :
English continues as the major language in communicating ideas and thoughts on a
global scale. Because it has fast become the world’s most widely used and commonly
spoken language today, the need to learn English for young children has increased
exponentially.
The English Department of Socorro National High School spearheads in the
celebration of School-Based English Festival 2019 with the theme “Rediscover, Rekindle
and Relive English through Communication.” The purpose of this event is to facilitate
participants in fostering their skills and talents through a competitive yet sportive atmosphere
of English competitions. This also aims to promote collaboration among their peers while
showcasing their talents and language skills. They ought to be harnessed and uncovered in
order for them to be competitive not only in written communication but also in oral
communication in English.
VI.
Statement of Purpose:
Specifically the activity will help students to:
a. Maximize our learners’ potential in speaking and writing through friendly competition
b. Enhance their artistic and creative talents as well as the higher order thinking skills
c. Raise the level of awareness and knowledge of literary genres
d. Provide meaningful experiences where they can exemplify positive values and
attitude necessary in the development of the 21st century skills.
