(Zero Hunger UN SDG) Kevin Carter's photograph, The Vulture and the Little Girl, first appeared in The New York Times on March 26, 1993. It shows a famished child who has slumped in the foreground with a hooded vulture watching from nearby. In March 1993, the child in the picture was said to have been trying to reach a United Nations feeding center in Ayod, Sudan, and to have survived the ordeal. The image was awarded the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography. Carter committed suicide four months after receiving the award.
