BothOkonkwoandKillmongerstrivetoconfronttheoppressionpresentintheirsocieties bychallengingthesocietalstateandseekingpowertoenactchange.InThingsFallApart, Okonkwo’sactionsaredrivenbyhisdesiretobeunlikehisfatherwhileupholdingIgbotraditions duringWesterncolonialism.AchebewritesthatOkonkwowasverygrievedwhenhesawhis clanbreakingupandfallingapart.Okonkwo,here,istryingtocombattheinequalitiesbrought bycolonialismbypreservingthetraditionsofhistribe.Similarly,in“BlackPanther”,Killmonger seekstouseWakanda’smagicalelementtoempoweroppressedneighborhoodsglobally.This depictsthespiritoftryingtoupliftmarginalizedgroupsfromKillmonger.BothKillmongerand Okonkwotrytobattlemarginalizationbyrisingtopower.However,thiswillrevealtheirtragic flaws,whichwillultimatelyleadtotheirdownfall.
