E. Discussing new
concepts and practicing
new skills #2
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
 Cotton protective clothing- Protective clothing
protects the body from external influence like heat,
chemicals, mechanical hazards, foul weather, etc., by
shielding the human body from the environment.
 Helmet or hard hat- Helmets normally need be worn
only when working on outdoor switchgear, where
they serve to protect against falling objects and
collisions with solid objects at head height.
 Goggles/ Eye Protection- They should always be
worn when washing down the internal parts of oil
circuit breakers.
 Safety Footwear- Safety footwear should be routinely
worn in all working areas and the shoes or boots
should incorporate steel toe-cap and non slip soles.
 Gloves- Electrical insulated rubber gloves should be
used to protect users from electrical shocks and burns.
 Hearing protectors- These devices reduce the noise
energy entering and causing harm to the inner ear.
 Safety harness- Safety harness should be worn when
working at any height greater than 1.5 m above
ground level and a full harness equipped with a
connector is preferred. Fall arrest equipment may be
necessary when working at high level.
Constructivism transforms the
student from a passive recipient
of information to an active
participant in the learning
process.
In this part, the students were
given the chance to connect their
pre-existing knowledge to the
new lesson presented.
Directions: Discuss the basic concepts of Electrical
Installation and Maintenance through an oral recitation.
