Heterosexual men have not been extended the opportunity to evolve with society in South Africa,
the norms and constructs that were put in place as to what makes a man has not changed though
society has, the perspective towards heterosexual women, homosexual man and women and the
many other genders that were not recognised or rather not labelled in the past has all changed.
Well then again has morality or how we perceive morality today changed? -:-> let’s start small
How being a mother raising the kids while the father (heterosexual male) went away for work. Is
now seen as or said to be “a single mother raising the kids while the deadbeat absent father is
making more babies with other women”. Children were raised by their mothers and the father was
this scary random guy who came to visit occasionally, and the kids were told that he was their
father. Even then the actual relationship between parent and child only began once the girl child
became a ready to be married of women in some cultures, and the boy child became old enough to
go join the father away on work and eventually leave the homestead to start their own family.
How being a mother (heterosexual female) was about ensuring that the meals are prepared, your
homestead is clean and presentable. Has become “I work my ass off the whole day then I still need
to come back home cook, clean and still have sex with you after”. The boy child was never taught
how to prepare a meal but rather was sent out told to clean the yard and herd the cattle, the girl
child was frowned upon when the boy child picked up a broom and attempted to sweep or better
yet was belittled as to what a terrible job he has done. Really has sex become that much of a task
that you feel obligated as if men are the sole benefactor to the act, yes, I am minimizing sex to a
mere act of pleasure.
