Introduction Overview: The Robotics Sumo Competition, organized by the university's robotics club, is an exhilarating challenge designed to ignite creativity and technical prowess among participating students. As participants engage in this spirited contest, they embark on a journey that combines problem-solving, explores cutting-edge technology, and applies robotics in real-world scenarios. introduction 2 導入 The theme of the competition: Participants are invited to immerse themselves in a dynamic arena where autonomous robots, meticulously crafted to adhere to the outlined specifications, engage in intense battles. In this competition, teams will design autonomous robots with the primary objective of strategically pushing opponents out of the sumo ring. Beyond the excitement of the matches, the event emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and the pursuit of technical excellence. The essence of our competition lies in fostering innovation, technical prowess, and strategic design. As teams step into the Dohyo, they unveil their unique creations—each a testament to creativity. A solitary team member, representing their collective effort, takes center stage as they command their robot in the pursuit of victory. introduction 3 登録 2. REGiSTRATION 4 土俵仕様 3. Dohyo Specifications Description: In accordance with the game rules (hereafter referred to as the 'Basic Rules'), each team competes on a Dohyo (sumo ring) with a robot that they have constructed themselves according to the specified dimensions. The match starts at the judge's command and continues until a contestant earns two Yuhkoh points. The judge determines the winner of the match. Dohyo Specifications 5 土俵仕様 Dimensions: The battlefield is circular, resembling a ring with a diameter of 154 cm. The border is delineated by a white circular ring that is 5 cm wide, located on the outer edge of the playing surface. The ring area extends to the outside edge of this circular line. The battlefield is constructed using metal material, with a minimum exterior space of 100 cm. Dohyo Specifications 6 土俵仕様 Basic Rules: The robot must have dimensions of 20 cm width and 20 cm length, with a weight not exceeding 3 kilograms. Each team can have one or more contestants, with a maximum team size of 4 members. Only the team leader may approach the ring; other team members must watch from the audience. Only the team leader is permitted to present their robot in front of the judges. Opponents are selected through a draw. A single match comprises three rounds, conducted within an overall time limit of 3 minutes, unless an extension is granted by the judges. In the event of an extension, the match may last for a maximum duration of 3 additional minutes. Dohyo Specifications 7 土俵仕様 Basic Rules: The match is won by the team that either wins two rounds or achieves two "Yohkoh" points first within the time limit. A team earns a "Yuhkoh" point by winning a round. If the time runs out before a team reaches two "Yuhkoh" points, and one team has at least one "Yuhkoh" point, that team with one point wins. In the event that neither team wins within the time limit, an extended match may be fought, and the team that earns the first "Yuhkoh" point during the extension wins. Alternatively, the judges may decide the winner/loser of the match through lots or a rematch. Dohyo Specifications 8 競技ルール 4. Competetion rules Robot Placing Following the judge's instructions, teams are required to position their robots within the sumo ring. The ring is divided into four sections by a cross in the middle. Each team's robot must be placed in opposite sections, along the border, covering some of the white area. The judge will remove the cross after the robots are placed, and no further movements are allowed once they are set. Competetion rules 9 競技ルール Start of the match: The judge initiates each round by announcing the start. Teams activate their robots, and after a fivesecond pause, the robots may begin operating. During these five seconds, players must clear out of the ring area. Stop, Resume of the match: The match halts and resumes upon the judge's announcement. It stops when the robots become entangled or orbit each other with no perceivable progress for 5 seconds. If it is unclear whether progress is being made or not, the judge can extend the time limit for observable progress for up to 30 seconds. End of the match: The match concludes when the judge makes the announcement. The two teams then retrieve their robots from the ring area. Competetion rules 10 競技ルール Scoring: One Yuhkoh point is awarded when: A team successfully pushes the other robot out of the ring or if the opposing robot touches the outer space voluntarily. Either of the above actions takes place at the same time that the end of the match is announced. For instance, if the judge declares the match's conclusion and, at that exact moment, one team's robot successfully pushes the opposing robot out of the ring, the team executing the action will be awarded one Yuhkoh point, even though it occurred right as the match concluded. If a wheeled robot has fallen over on the ring or in similar conditions, Yuhkoh will not be counted, and the match continues. When one robot stops first, after 5 seconds, it's considered as giving up. In that case, the other robot gets a Yuhkoh point, even if it also stops. Competetion rules 11 競技ルール When the judges' decision is required to determine the winner, the following points will be taken into consideration: 1. Technical merits in movement and operation of a robot 2. Penalty points during the match 3. Attitude of the players during the match The match shall be stopped and a rematch started under the following conditions: If both robots are moving but not making progress, or if they stop at the same time and stay still for 5 seconds without touching each other, a special rule applies. If both robots are moving, and it's unclear if they're making progress or not, the judge can add up to 30 more seconds to the time limit (rematch). If both robots touch the outside of the ring at about the same time, and it cannot be determined which touched first, a rematch is called. Competetion rules 12 競技ルール Violations Players engaging in any insulting deeds shall be deemed in violation of these rules: A player who utters insulting words to the opponent, judges, or puts voice devices in a robot to utter insulting words, writes insulting words on the body of a robot, or performs any insulting action is in violation of these rules. Competetion rules 13 競技ルール A minor violation is declared if a player: Enters the ring during the match, except when the player does so to remove the robot from the ring upon the judge's announcement of Yuhkoh or stopping the match. To enter the ring means: A part of the player's body is in the ring. A player puts any mechanical kits into the ring to support their body. Performs the following deeds: Demand to stop the match without appropriate reasons. Take more than 30 seconds before resuming the match, unless the judge announces a time extension. Start operating the robot within five seconds after the chief judge announces the start of the match. Does or says that which disgraces the fairness of the match. Competetion rules 14 接触 4.
