Follow the prompts in each box to brainstorm your fable.
Every fable has a lesson for the reader. Think about what lesson you want to teach.
Now select the characters in your fable. Will they be humans, animals, or parts of nature?
Fables often have tricks or riddles the characters need to solve or overcome. What will your
characters need to figure out?
People and sidekicks often join or run into the main characters of a fable at different times.
Who will assist your characters?
Choose a setting for your fable. What is the natural environment like, and how does that
impact the main characters or people in the story?
