De Haagse Hogeschool The Distillation System Hugo Burggraaff Technische Natuurkunde Zero Emission Fuels is a start-up company that wants to produce green methanol in the most efficient way possible. My goal? My goal at ZEF is to let the distillation system function under any environmental dynamics. This can be done by understanding the following sub-goals: (a) Understanding parameters that effect the system. (b) Understanding the control system. (C) Create fast robust and dynamic control scheme. The eventual goal of the company with the distillation system? -The produced methanol needs to reach a purity of 99.85% (this is also called AA grade) and the produced water is 99.6% -The system needs to produce a production rate of 250 grams of methanol per hour -For the system needs to run as efficiently as possible Conclusion The first and second sub-goal are achieved. The third sub-goal not since the dynamic behavior of the column is not up to the desired standards, but progress has been made which makes the team confident that this third goal will also be achieved. Data On the right one of the data sets can be seen that has been used for progression. The lines in the orange bubble are not straight which was due to entrainment which then needs a solution.
