Cyber law refers to the legal principles, rules, and regulations
governing the use of the internet and other digital technologies. It
encompasses various legal areas such as intellectual property, privacy,
cybersecurity, data protection, e-commerce, and online transactions.
Cyber law is essential in today's world because of the increasing reliance
on technology and the internet. As more and more people conduct
business, communicate, and share personal information online, the need
for legal protection from cyber threats and crimes has become more
critical.
ProjectCyber laws help to reduce or prevent people from cybercriminal activities on a
large scale with the help of protecting information access from unauthorized
people, freedom of speech related to the use of the internet, privacy,
communications, email, websites, intellectual property, hardware and software,
such as data storage devices. As Internet traffic is increasing rapidly day by day,
that has led to a higher percentage of legal issues worldwide. Because cyber
laws are different according to the country and jurisdiction, restitution ranges
from fines to imprisonment, and enforcement is challenging.
Cyber law offers legal protections for people who are using the Internet as well
as running an online business. It is most important for Internet users to know
about the local area and cyber law of their country by which they could know
what activities are legal or not on the network. Also, they can prevent our selves
from unauthorized activities.The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act was the first
cyber law, called CFFA, that was enacted in 1986.
 Cyber Law in Nepal :
The Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 is Nepal’s first cyber law. It was created
in response to the growing usage of the internet in Nepal. It makes provision for
the commercial use of computers and networks; authorizes e-transactions and
communication in public and private sectors; criminalizes different computerrelated unwanted activities:
“Whoever publishes or causes to publish, display any material in the electronic
form including computer, internet which are prohibited to publish or display by
the law in force or which may be contrary to the public morality or decent
behavior or any types of materials which may spread hate or jealousy against
anyone or which may jeopardize the harmonious relations subsisting among the

with a fine of up to one hundred thousand rupees or with imprisonment of up to
five years or both.”
