Reminder from “WE CARE ABOUT SaipemYOUR HEALTH” Medical Department – Put clean cloth & apply pressure on the wound. – If there’s foreign object in the wound, apply pressure around it & put tourniquet between the bleeding area & the heart. 5 6 FIRST-AID BOOKLET (ENGLISH) 11 Page – Identify the signs, persistent chest pain which may spread to the left arm and neck. – Call emergency. – Ensure they are sitting. – Do not restrain the person but protect his head from injury with blanket or clothing. – After the seizure, help the person to rest on his side with his head tilt back. – Do not put anything in his mouth. – Turn off master switch or use nonmetal, dry object such as stick to pull electric wire away. – Remove the victim form electric source before touching him. – If he is not breathing, begin rescue breaths immediately; if no heartbeat, begin CPR. – If he is breathing and heart is beating, placed him in recovery position & monitor. Make a splint, place it gently under the injury and tie it to the limb with pieces of cloth. – Tilt the victim’s head back & lift the chin to open the airway. – Apply ice bags to limit swelling and relieve pain. – Give 5 quick upward and inward abdominal thrusts by holding your hands between his navel & lower rib cage. 4 – Push (30 times) hard & fast on the center of the victim’s chest. – Loosely cover the burn with cling film or a clean plastic bag. – Give 5 back blows between his shoulder plates. 7 – Stop any bleeding, don’t try to realign the bone. – Cool the burn under cold running water for at least 15 minutes. – Get behind the person. – Close his nose & give mouth to mouth breaths (2 times). – Repeat chest compression & rescue breaths. – Rest: support the injured part in a comfortable position. – Ice: use an ice pack to reduce pain & swelling every 3 hours. – Compression: wrap the injured area with elastic bandage. – Elevation: keep the injured part elevated to limit swelling and bruising.
