I am Gwanho Kim, a senior Computer Science and Engineering student at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea. I am writing to show my personal statement and express my interest in the exchange program at the University of California, Berkeley. Initially I was an Industrial and Management Engineering student in my home university. But, I also had an interest in Computer Science field and took several classes of it, which led me to a computer world. Ever since I started my journey in Computer Science, I have been fascinated by the intricacies of overall computer system such as microarchitecture and compiler. The opportunity to study these subjects at UC Berkeley, a world-renowned institution known for its cutting-edge research and innovation, is an opportunity I am eager to seize. During my time at POSTECH, I have consistently ranked among the top of my class and have been involved in several projects. My academic interests lie in fundemantal computer science and software development. Not only I have studied hard in these fields but also I have joined the algorithm problem solving club and the development club to communicate with others. I believe that studying these subjects at UC Berkeley will not only enhance my understanding but also provide me with a global perspective that is crucial in today's interconnected world. In addition to my academic pursuits, I am also interested in DeCal classes and participating in DECODE which is non-profit organization from stanford&berkeley students. I believe that these activities will enrich my exchange experience and learn how to live actively. Additionally While I am in Berkeley, I would like to take a tour of leading IT companies such as Google and Apple. I will be a great experience where I can learn the way how they work and think. I am excited about the prospect of joining the UC Berkeley community and am committed to making the most of this opportunity. I am confident that my passion for my field of study, coupled with my desire to learn and grow, will make me a valuable addition to your program. Sincerely, Gwanho Kim
