What I learned from this video is that learners don't learn from a person they don't like. Therefore it is important to create positive relationships with the learners in your class. It makes them feel valued and respected. When a teacher makes a mistake it is important that she says sorry, because it teaches the learners to take responsibility for their mistakes and that no one is perfect. Making a child feel like "someone" and praising their efforts will make them feel valued and it also helps to build their self-esteem. Building a relationship with a child is important, because they learn from you, they see what you do and then they do the same. You become a role model for them My champion teacher was my Grade 10 business studies teacher. She always knew what to say and how to say it; she looked past your faults and tried to see who you really are. If you made a mistake yesterday and you walk into her class today it is a new day, a new page. She does not look at yesterday's mistakes but at today's opportunities. An opportunity to be a better person. If you have a bad day, she always has advice or she supports you and makes you feel valuable. It's the values she has that make her a Champion teacher. I would go above and beyond. I will greet my students every day, to create a positive environment. I will use positive reinforcement, I will acknowledge and praise students for their efforts, this will help them to improve and do better. I will listen to my learners and make them feel that they have a say. I will stay positive no matter how hard it is, and no matter what the situation is I will never make a child feel useless.
