Appointment of Governors
How are Governors appointed?
• Article 153 of the Constitution says “There shall be a Governor for
each State.”
• According to Article 155 "the Governor of a State shall be
appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal".
• Under Article 156, "the Governor shall hold office during the
pleasure of the President", but his term shall be five years.
• Articles 157 and 158 lay down the qualifications and terms of
office of the Governor.
Age and eligibility
• The Governor must be a citizen of India and must have completed
35 years of age.
• The Governor should not be a member of Parliament or State
Legislature, and should not hold any other office of profit.
• The position of Governor is envisaged as a political head who has
to act on the advice of the Council of Ministers of the State.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently
launched a chatbot to help people get an answer to their queries
related to the Aadhaar card. It is called "Aadhaar Mitra". The
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)-a based chatbot
can answer queries related to Aadhaar enrolment number, PVC
Card order status, and complaint status, among other things. It is
available in both English and Hindi languages.
The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR)
unveiled "Bal Mitra," a WhatsApp chatbot designed to improve
communication between kids and parents in Delhi. "The chatbot
'Bal Mitra' will serve as a source of reliable information regarding
children and their rights,"
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the portal for the
creation of 'Family ID - One Family One Identity', to identify
families as a unit for implementing the 'one job per family'
proposal.
According to a state government, all such families that are not
eligible for the National Food Security Scheme will be able to avail
of the ID, while the ration card ID of the families having it, will be
considered as their family ID.
The Kerala government has launched robotic scavenger,
"Bandicoot", to clean sewages in the temple town of Guruvayur,

India ranked 13th on the index.
The Global Terrorism Index is an annual ranking produced by
the Institute for Economics and Peace.
The Global Terrorism Index ranks 163 countries on four
indicators weighted over five years. These four factors are: the
number of terrorist incidents per year, the number of fatalities
caused by terrorists per year, the number of injuries caused by
terrorists per year, and total property damage caused by
terrorism per year.
India was listed among countries with a “high” impact of
terrorism and ranked 13th.
India was among the 25 worst terror-hit countries and among
56 of the 120 nations surveyed with no respondents selecting
war and terror as the biggest threat to their daily safety.
The report lists the Communist Party of India (Maoist) as the
12th deadliest terror group in 2022.
South Asia remains the region with the worst average GTI score.

"in our account, in your account." In this context, the
domestic bank is referred to as the "vostro" bank, and the
foreign bank is the "nostro" bank.
City Union Bank Limited (CUB) has introduced a new feature
that allows customers to use voice biometric authentication
when logging into the bank's mobile banking app, aimed at
improving security.
Sebi, India's main securities market regulator, has always

Global Hunger Index 2023
In the latest Global Hunger Index (GHI) for 2023, India has been ranked
111 out of 125 countries, marking a decline from its 107th position in 2022.
The GHI is an annual assessment of hunger levels globally, published by
Irish NGO Concern Worldwide and German NGO Welt Hunger Hilfe.
Key Findings of Global Hunger Index 2023
•
The GHI 2023 report highlights that India has the highest child
wasting rate in the world, standing at 18.7 percent during 2018–22, which
signifies acute undernutrition.
•
The rate of undernourishment in India is reported at 16.6 percent,
and the under-five mortality rate is 3.1 percent.
•
The prevalence of anemia among women aged between 15 and 24
years in India is alarmingly high at 58.1 percent.
•
India’s overall GHI score is 28.7, categorizing the hunger situation in
the country as “serious.”

Periodic Labour Force Survey
(PLFS) Annual Report 20222023
The PLFS (Periodic Labour Force Survey), by the NSO (National Statistical
Office), has released its results for the period of April to June 2023.
One of the key takeaways from the PLFS is the increase in the Labor Force
Participation Rate (LFPR) for individuals aged 15 years and above. In urban
areas, the LFPR has risen from 47.5% in April-June 2022 to 48.8% in the
same period of 2023.
WPR increased from 43.9% in April-June 2022 to 45.5% in the same
months of 2023
