PROCEDURES TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY “Good Morning, class!” “Good Morning too, ma’am!’ “Before we proceed to our new lesson today, we will have first a short recap of our discussion from last meeting.” “Can anyone give a brief recap on our lesson last meeting?” “Kate: Our lesson yesterday ma’am was all about noun. A noun is a name of person, place, and animal, thing quality, idea, or action.” “Yes, very good, Kate.” “Our last meeting’s topic was noun, and by noun, we mean the name of person, place, animal, thing quality, idea, or action that is commonly used in a sentence as the subject or object of a verb.” “I will be calling John to give an example of a noun in a sentence form. Give me at least 3, John.” “Okay, very good. I’m happy that you’ve learned something from our lesson last meeting. I hope that for today, you do the same.” John: “Jane is pretty. The bird is flying. I want to visit Boracay on my vacation.” “The word Jane, Bird, and Boracay is the example of a noun, ma’am.” “Yes ma’am.” ENGAGE Whole Class Activity “In class, find a partner.” “I’ll give you 2 minutes to take a look outside, and after that, you have to describe what you see in the environment.” “Yes ma’am.” “Understood class?” “Okay, your time starts now!” “Time is up!” “Who wants to volunteer?” (Mike and Kim raise their hand) “Okay, Mike & Kim. You described the trees as being big and the leaves are green. Also, you describe the people you encountered as beautiful and handsome during your observation. Those words are examples of our lesson for today, which is Adjective.” “Mike & Kim: There are so many trees outside, ma’am, which are very tall. The leaves are green and there are birds on them. Also, there are so many beautiful girls and handsome boys we encountered during our observation. “ EXPLORE Whole class: READ IT! “For another activity, I want you to read this paragraph, understand the story, and also please study the underlined words. After that I’ll ask some questions of you.” “It was a warm and sunny day. Mon and I set out to work in our big yard. First, we pulled out the thick weeds. Then we removed the big and small stone. Mon shoveled the hard soil to make it soft. I made small holes with my finger and planted tiny seedlings. Mon watered the small seedlings carefully. After that we covered them with big leaves. When our work was finished, we rested under the shade of a tall tree. Mon and the I ate a filling snack of cold juice and delicious sandwiches.” (The students will participate to the class) “Yes ma’am.” (After reading the given paragraph the 5 chosen students will answer the question.) “Class, hopefully you understand the story, I’ll be the one to choose 6 lucky students to answer the questions. Lucky students are Jelly, Marry, Dan, Lloyd, Kate, and Elton. Jelly you answer number 1, Marry number 2, and so on. So, here are the questions 1. Who set out to work in the (All of them got the correct answer) big yard? 2. Why did Mon shovel the hard soil? 3. What did Mon and I plant? 4. Why it is good to plant some vegetables in our yard? 5. What are the underline words in the paragraph? 6. What do we called those underlined words in the paragraph, a noun or an adjective? “Excellent! All of you got the correct answer” EXPLAIN Discussion (The teacher will link to the lesson proper.) (Rechel raises her right hand) “Our lesson for today is all about adjectives. Anyone know what adjectives are? Rechel: “For me ma’am adjectives, it describe the noun.” “Thank you, Rechel! Yes, when we say adjectives it is a describing word. Adjectives are words that describe a noun or a pronoun. Just like what we did a while ago when Mike describe Kim as a beautiful lady, so the word beautiful there is an adjective which describe the noun, Kim.” We have another example: The baby is hungry. (The students are paying attention to the activity. I hate Peter because he is selfish. Some are taking down notes) “Furthermore, adjectives may come before the noun that they describe.” For example: The blue flag is up. Adjectives Noun She has a happy face. Adjectives Noun “Also, adjectives may come after be-verbs, is and are.” For example: The baby is cute. Noun Adjectives be-verb The leaves are green Noun Adjectives be-verb “To know if you really understand our lesson, kindly read the sentences written on the board and study. Then, if you know already (Tom raises his hand to answer) the answer you can raise your right hand.” “My answer in number 1 ma’am, the word boy The boy is tall. there is a noun and tall is the adjective.” The blue flag is up. Mother has a happy face. “Very Good, tom.” Hence, the importance of adjectives in English class is that, they properly describe the noun, they also tell some descriptive idea, and they totally affect the meaning of a sentence. Its presence makes the sentence more interesting. “Yes ma’am” Did you really understand our discussion class? “None so far, ma’am” Any questions? EXTEND / ELABORATE Group Activity “For this activity I want you to group yourselves into 3 groups to present your understanding of the lesson.” “First group will do a simple act or drama. Second group will do a poster and explain their works. Lastly, the third group will create a jingle or cheer.” “I’ll give you only 10 minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to perform your presentation. Your ten minutes preparation starts now.” (The students are busy with their preparations) (The students did their best in their presentation) (After the group presentation) “Congratulations to all groups. You did an amazing presentation” EVALUATE Individual Activity “It’s an individual activity. Get ½ sheet of paper for your quiz today.
