Scaffold for IA1 – Investigative Case Study Your Task: The purpose of this task is to choose some type of media that uses multiple platforms to encourage greater participation from the audience, thus turning the audience’s attention from passive to active (they interact with the media in some way). Introduction Briefly explaining the Contexts of Production: Define what a multi-platform project is, why they are used, and how they are used (different technologies/mediums) Thesis statement: Specify exactly how your chosen case study is an example of a multi-platform project. Basically, how does it allow the audience to interact with the product (the story world). PARAGRAPH 2 Provide a brief, informative history of your chosen case study Explain what your product is State how long it has existed State who the target audience is Gross profits to date (box office, global sales, annual revenue etc.) Who the creator is and how they have shaped the product PARAGRAPH 3 - 5 Analysis of your chosen case study’s interactivity Provide detailed critique and analysis of the methods in which your chosen case study has attempted to better engage and interact with the audience o Specify exactly how the makers (production company, marketing team, etc.) allowed the audience to interact with the product PARAGRAPH 5/6 Appraisal (success, impact and limitations) Using facts and figures, extrapolate whether or not the use of multiple platforms enhanced audience engagement with your chosen case study Argue any failings or limitations of the implementation of your multi-platform project PARAGRAPH 6/7 Conclusion Restate your findings (the impact/results of the use of a multiplatform project) and how this allowed the audience to better engage with the product State how your chosen case study is an example of a multiplatform project (your thesis) Bibliography Cite any all sources that are present within your essay (in-text referenced).
