Section 1 Commitment 1.4 Drug and Alcohol Procedure 1. Purpose The purpose of this procedure is to ensure the prohibition of the use of alcohol and illegal or nonprescriptive drugs is clearly communicated within SBS workplaces. 2. Responsibilities 2.1 Managers/Employees/Contractors Managers are responsible for ensuring that company policy on the prohibition of the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace is conveyed to Employees, and Contractors during the induction process and enforced. Employees and Contractors must abide with this instruction during working hours including all meal breaks. 3. Procedure 3.1 General Managers, Employees and Contractors working on SBS premises must be able to conduct their duties without dangers to themselves or others. If discovered to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the following will occur: At the commencement of the day, the person will not be allowed to commence duties. Should the incapacity result from a reaction to prescriptive medication, a General Practitioner shall be consulted. During the working day, the person must cease duties and leave work immediately.
