Group Assignment: Submit a soft and hard copy. Soft copy will be uploaded in the MS Team. I will
create a folder in the MS team by group where you will submit your work. Use as many books and
web sources as you can and don’t forget to attach your references both in the hard and soft copy.
Hard copy will be placed in a Long folder but A4 size bondpaper.

1. Identify differences in structure and function of the normal cell versus the cancer cell.
(Include information on characteristics of malignant cells. Describe the normal cell. )
2. Develop a table describing characteristics of benign versus malignant tumors.
(Include information on primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. Review the American Cancer
Society Recommendations for Early Detection of Cancer in Asymptomatic, Average Risk People. Explain
diagnostics tests that aid in the diagnosis of cancer. Include palliative surgical procedures. )
3. How does preventative care influence the incidence of cancer?
(Include information on the cell characteristics, mode of growth, metastasis, and tissue destruction.
Include information regarding how benign tumors may be inoperable and undergo metastatic changes.)
4. Describe various surgical procedures used in treating and diagnosing cancer.
(Include information regarding excisional, incisional, and needle biopsies to obtain a tissue sample for
analysis of cells suspected to be malignant. If surgery is the primary treatment, a local or wide excision
can be done. Salvage surgery is an additional treatment option. Other surgical interventions are
available: electrosurgery, cryosurgery, chemosurgery, laser surgery, and stereotactic surgery. )
