ENG 208/3 Due: Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 Dear Public Speakers; 1- Think of a “How to do something” topic that you can give a 4-minute speech on. See examples below. You may think of something else of course. 2- You need to make use of what we call Visual Aids. Please read Ch. 14 Using Visual Aids 3- Please bring to class on Mon. Feb. 19 your ideas on paper for 2-3 possible topics from which we will decide on the topics of your speeches. This speech will be graded and count as one of your “Mini Speeches” (see Syllabus). For delivery, we will follow the class list in reverse; so you should all be well-prepared then. 1- Please submit the Transcript of the speech on Safe Assignment, a day before your speech and send it to me by email as a word attachment. Please also submit the Speaking Outline. Sample: Ch. 11. P. 206) at the end of your speech. 2- The Transcript is the written version of your speech. It is written as an essay. It should include a title and the list of used References. (Samples: Ch 4. Pp. 69-70; Ch. 15. Pp. 285-287; Ch. 16. Pp. 310-312; Ch. 17. Pp. 338-340 & in Appendix. Pp. A-1-A-11) 3- For citing sources orally: Please read pp. 153-155 in Ch. 8: Supporting Your Ideas. 4- Although you are NOT required to submit the Detailed/Preparation Outline for this speech: Please read very carefully Ch. 11: Outlining Your Speech (including the sample Outlines, pp. 210-215). Please cite your sources in an end-of-text APA-style reference list. Everyone in the class is required to listen carefully to every speech.
