Poem #1 - Utilitarianism Utilitarianism is commonly used in business operations Due to the way it accounts for costs and benefits of an organization As it bases on the masses’ voice This moral framework applies on war and military force Decisions must always be for the common good, they say But how about the minority at the end of the day? Does their sacrifice still the best for everyone? If it harms and make them suffer in the long run In every inclusion, there is an exclusion And this exclusion causes confusion Why? Don’t we have the same rights just like the majority? If no then why is there a difference in priority? Utilitarianism has conflicts with individual rights when done As majority does not equate with each and every one Altough it’s a major approach in right-and-wrong determination It still has its obvious limitations Poem #2 - Existentialism Human consciousness is radically free, always able to choose Thats how existentialism is being viewed Determining life’s meaning is our responsibility And to live a meaningful life is to live a life of authenticity One must live in his own freedom and choices And not with the command of societal voices However, at the end it still relies on what we settle on Whether to live an authentic life or its contrary on your own We become what we choose to be, this framework says And life at the beginning is always meaningless It is our free will and choice that gives essence to it That makes it meaningful to live everyday with However, freedom comes with its limitations too It doesn’t mean that the right thing is whatever that you do With freedom comes duty along on our side That we should be responsible of as we continue to live the life Poem #3 - Consequentialism Consequentialism judges whether something is right or not It is an ethical theory that can be applied every day, a lot A topic that to discuss is difficult As no one can foresee the actions’ upcoming result Just like when lying, it is generally wrong Even if the situation is crucial and it is the remaining option If lying will save someone’s life Consequentialism will tell that it is right There is no way to recognize the result ahead of time In an action committed, which might even be a crime Morally wrong actions are right, sometimes In order to achieve morally right outcomes What’s ethical doesn’t lie in the action committed But to the results it would bring and, The consequences of a choice someone prefers That is the concept of consequentialism that not everyone concurs
