DIY Strength By Coach Tim Gorton How to Build a Plyo Box at Home p Introduction Here is the first project in our DIY performance series. Coach Gorton has put together the cut list, directions and pictures to build this project yourself. As always, if you are unfamiliar with building projects, try and find someone to help you. Good luck! Cut List and Equipment Below is the cut list of supplies that you will need for this project. Sometimes you have these items at home. Other wise you will need to go to hardware store. Check with Home Depot or Lowes as most of these places will have free delivery or a small delivery free. We also recommend using safety glasses if you don’t have them. Items 1/2 sheet of 3/4” plywood Lumber Wood Screws Power Drill T Square Rubber Matting for top (optional) Size Quantity 48’’x48’ 1 2x4 1 2” 15-20 Instructions Step 1: Measure and cut all 4 sides (12” by 20”) measure and cut each side individually to account for the blade cut Step 2: Drill sides together, 3 screws for each connection Screw at least an inch from the corners to avoid splitting the wood Step 3: Measure and cut two supports from the 2x4 (18 1/2”) and place them perpendicular to the longer side of the box. Place them about 8” from each other and 5” from the sides. Put 2 screws in each side of the support (8 total) Step 4: Measure and cut top of the box (21 1/2” by 20”). Put one screw on either side of the corners, and 2 more in each support on the top of the box (12 total). Optional steps: sand corners Drill mat on top using 1/2” screws Cut handles for easy transportation
