OPTICS
Optics is the branch of physics
that studies the behavior and
properties of light, including its
interactions with matter and the
construction of instruments that
use or detect it. Optics usually
describes the behavior of
visible, ultraviolet, and infrared
light.
Light
Light or visible light is
electromagnetic radiation that can
be perceived by the human eye.
Visible light is usually defined as
having wavelengths in the range
of 400–700 nanometres,
corresponding to frequencies of
750–420 terahertz, between the
infrared and the ultraviolet.
Rectilinear propagation describes the tendency of
electromagnetic waves (light) to travel in a straight line. Light
does not deviate when travelling through a homogeneous
medium, which has the same refractive index throughout;
otherwise, light suffers refraction.
