UNFCCC | United Nations
2. Write a reflection with screenshot of the commercial (optional)
A. What did you see in the commercial?
The video is about the need for collective action to address climate change. It is to
discuss the importance of coming together and increasing efforts to combat climate
change. The video also shows the role of the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in facilitating international
cooperation on climate action.
B. What did the commercial make you feel?
- Recognize the value of the living environment, specifically our planet, which is
under threat of annihilation by us. The living environment gives everything
humans require, yet individuals continue to cause more and more calamities.
- A stronger feeling of time and motion. Time can never be reclaimed. But we can
work together to fix the things we've done in the past.
C. What is the purpose of the U.N commercial?
- The purpose of this commercial is likely to encourage individuals, organizations,
and governments to come together and take action to address climate change.
- The commercial aims to convey the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for
collective efforts to ramp up climate action. It may emphasize the importance of
international cooperation, highlighting the role of the UNFCCC and the United
Nations in facilitating global climate negotiations and agreements.
D. Is that being implemented in Vietnam?
- Vietnamese people are being called to act on climate change. Vietnam has made
commitments and taken actions to address climate change and reduce greenhouse
gas emissions. The country announced at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change
Conference (COP26) a target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Vietnam is reviewing its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which is a
climate action plan to cut emissions and adapt to climate impacts.
- Vietnam has also signed on to various international initiatives and agreements
related to climate change, such as the Global Methane Pledge, the Lowering
Emissions by Accelerating Forest Finance (LEAF) Coalition, and the Leaders
Declaration on Forests and Land Use. The government has released Decree 06,
which provides regulations on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and
protecting the ozone layer.
