Agnes Gillian is the owner of Skin Doctor, a beauty salon on the west coast. Skin Doctor
provides a service through a variety of face and body treatments. Agnes also sells Anique and
Environ skin products in her salon. She sells the Anique products at a profit mark-up of 40%
and the Environ products at a mark-up of 50%.
Use the given information and complete:
4.1 The CASH RECEIPTS and the CASH PAYMENTS JOURNAL for September 2014. Do
not total the journals. (24)
Transactions September 2014
1. The owner increases her capital contribution with R15 000. She pays the amount directly
into the business's bank account. Issue receipt 35.
Skin Doctor rents a premises at a yearly rate of R4 500. The rent however increased with
10% on 1 September 2014. Issue cheque 100 to P. Coetzee for the month's rent.
4. Purchase a new sterilization machine from Body Suppliers and pay R3 680. Issue a cheque.
5. Two clients had appointments for facial treatments at R350 per treatment. Issue a receipt.
Sell Environ products to the value of R1 275.
9. Pay PNA R638 for pens, receipt books and invoice books purchased.
11. Purchase Anique products of R1 068 and Environ products of R2 583. Issue a cheque to
Natural Health Shop. These products are sold in the salon and not used to provide a
service.
14. Cash a cheque to pay the wage for two workers for two weeks. The workers work 5 days
a week and earn R105 per day.
16. Purchase goods to provide a service from Zest Care to the value of R1 836.
19. The following were received from clients:
Six clients for a manicure @ R120 p.p.
Three clients for a pedicure @ R150 p.p.
One facial treatment @ R350.
