the message from someone else.
As a reader, listener, and speaker, you must be keen on the details
of a text or passage, and weigh its truthfulness through critical
thinking so learners must be able to

The teacher will present and discuss to the class the rules for changing
direct to indirect speech.
1. Omit all inverted commas or quotation marks. End the sentence
with a full stop.
2. Change the verb into the past tense if the verb inside the
quotation marks is in the present tense.
3. Modals also sometimes change.
4. Expression of time if reported on a different day also changes.
5. Pronouns also change.
6. The commonly used verbs in indirect speech are said, told and
asked. Said is usually used without an object, told is used with an
object, and asked is used to report questions.

Ans. Marie Curie said that she was among those who taught

3. Scientists claimed, “The Universe contains approximately
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars”.
Ans. Scientist claimed the universe contained approximately 1,
000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 stars or a septillion.

Communication
is
complex
and
sometimes is crucial. Some people cannot
speak words directly, others do it
indirectly but either way, as long as you are sincere and true to your
words you can have a successful communication which is a key to a
good relationship.
Have the learners complete the sentence to gauge how much they
learned from the lesson.
