Omit all inverted commas or quotation marks. End the sentence with a full stop. 2. Change the verb into the past tense if the verb inside the quotation marks is in the present tense. 3. Modals also sometimes change. 4. Expression of time if reported on a different day also changes. 5. Pronouns also change. 6. The commonly used verbs in indirect speech are said, told and asked.
