Importance of Transportation
Objectives:
 To define what transportation is.
 To know the importance of transportation in daily
lives.
What is transportation?
 the action of transporting someone or something or the
process of being transported.
 is the movement of humans, animals, and goods from one
location to another.
 Transport refers to the activity that facilitates physical
movement of goods as well as individuals from one place
to another. In business, it supports trade and industry in
carrying raw materials to the place of production and
distributing finished products for consumption.

 Transportation contributes to the economic development,
industrial and agricultural development, social development,
political development, cultural development and Business
Organizations.

 It maximizes the optimization of natural resources by
concentrating the production of goods best suited for
the region. Example:

 Transportation has become a symbol and a crucial
element of economic growth; moving resources easily
helped societies to grow at a good rate.
 It help create better accessibility for new and old
investors and business entities.
 The emergence of markets, schools, colleges and
facilities is a sign of increased economic growth.

 It has been possible to use good fertilizers, qualitative
seeds, and numerous modern equipment and techniques
because they could be transported from one place to
another at reasonable costs. Example:

materials, equipment, and labor for industrial development.
 Encouraging trade, industry, commerce, and agriculture
is one of the simplest and most economical ways of
boosting the national wealth of a country.

 Being able to travel to faraway places where the idea of a
visit was inconceivable. Now, new lands are being
discovered and utilized to benefit us.
 The value of land has increased because even wastelands
can be developed with access to transportation.

connectivity resulting in social inclusion and better lifestyle.

 Transport also plays a major role in maintaining the
national defense of a nation. During war or emergency
situations it is an effective transport system that can
move quickly between sensitive areas and transport
defense personnel, equipment, materials, food items,
and other necessities. Example:

and state governments.

 Transportation has facilitated a better understanding
between people as they are no longer divided by specific

been an increase in the sharing of cultural ideas and
promoting cooperation in the world.
 Transportation helps in cultural development by
spreading relevant information and knowledge amongst
individuals. It is also a factor in minimizing ignorance and
prejudice that is prevalent in society.

 Transportation is considered a major force that has
contributed heavily to the growth of business
organizations.

undoubtedly immense.

comparable to the veins in the human body. Just a vein
helps to the health of human, similarly the transportation
keeps the health of a nation in good condition by keeping
the people and materials moving from one place to
another place.
