To meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides. A. Content Standards The learners are expected to demonstrate familiarity and understanding of the clientele and audiences of counselling as well as its settings, processes, methods, and tools. B. Performance Standards The learner must be able to: 1. Conduct a survey among young adults (i.e., ages 18-21 years old) on their counseling needs using acceptable research tools; 2. Present survey results and recommendations for class discussion; and 3. Using the results of the survey, present a critical evaluation whether the needs of the respondents are addressed by counseling practitioners and pertinent institutions; and 4. Propose suggestions on how clients’ needs can be effectively addressed. C. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge, indicate the time allotment for each step. Find out by asking the learners how they think counseling should be administered and where counseling usually takes place. Give examples of the steps involved in the counseling process. B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Emphasize the importance of knowing when individuals, groups, organizations and communities need counseling. Point out that counseling is carried out in/at various places, time, and situations. C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson Show images of individuals, groups, organizations, and communities who are going through physical, psychological, or emotional distress. Ask the students to explain the distinctions among the various types of clients and audiences in counseling. Mention examples of places, time, and situations where counseling is usually administered. Give an example of a counseling method and describe how it is carried out and how it works. Stress the value of knowing the differences in the counseling needs of individuals, groups, organizations and communities to ensure that intervention will be effective. Cite at least five (5) particular examples of counseling clients’ needs. Explain that counseling should be done according to what the place, time, and situation call for. Identify the different processes involved and methods used in counseling. Discuss why individuals, groups, organizations, and communities have different counseling needs. D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Greetings Classroom Management Attendance Mention some examples of counseling methods and find out if students are familiar with any of them and ask them to share what they know. Highlight the importance of knowing the appropriate steps in the counseling process and the most suitable method in dealing with specific cases. Cite examples of situations that necessitate intervention through counseling and instruct students to distinguish differences among these situations. Ask the students to list down at least three (3) things that they need whenever they find themselves in distress, depression or grief. Session 5 E.
