Estimate Assignment #1
Using the attached sheet with parts pricing please assemble two separate quotes for the service
repair that is requested. Please complete on Mitchell Estimate and using the submission tab in
FOL submit when completed. Ensure everything that is needed, (ie. Parts, labor, extras, etc.) is
included on the final estimates. Labor can be located using Mitchel.
Name: Pankaj Parajuli
Professors Name: Richard deGraaf
Due Date: January 26, 2024
Estimate #1:
A customer has brought their 2009 Chevrolet Silverado into your service repair facility
complaining about a grinding noise when braking. The technician has completed a brake
inspection and provided you with the following description:
Test drove vehicle, loud grinding noise heard when apply brakes at all speeds. Removed wheels
and inspected brakes. Found front pads wore so pad they are steel on steel causing significant
damage to front rotors. Upon further inspection noticed that the front calipers are seized
causing the brake failure. Front pads, rotors and calipers need to be replaced to complete
repair. Please Quote.
With this information as well as the parts pricing and the back of this lab package please
complete an accurate estimate including taxes. Please explain below why each part was
included in the estimate.

The mechanic needs to change the front pads, rotors, and calipers to finish the repair properly.
Additionally, I included brake lube for putting on the brake calipers, and brake fluid because there
was a leak, and it needs filling. In order to prepare and clean the brake components for repair, a
brake cleaner is required. I also added a bag of floor dryer because the vehicle spilled brake fluid
on the shop floor.
Estimate #2:
A customer with a 2008 Honda Civic brought his vehicle in for an oil change. Upon referencing
their mileage to a manufacturer’s scheduled maintenance chart, you noticed that they are
due for an automatic transmission service. Please complete an estimate to complete an
automatic transmission service so you can try to upsell the service. (Transmission requires 6
liters of fluid). Please explain below why each part was included in the estimate.

I didn't include engine oil in the estimate because it wasn't mentioned. However, an engine flush
kit is included in the standard procedure for an oil change. Since the transmission fluid has been
changed, we also need to include the transmission filter and gasket. In order to preserve the
integrity of the transmission components and guarantee that all required hardware is available
throughout the transmission servicing, transmission bolts are supplied. Additionally, I added 6
liters of transmission fluid according to the vehicle's needs.
