DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Juan David Florez Rojas International Language Academy of Canada 01 Outline 03 Solutions 1 to 3 Introduction 04 Evaluation 02 Cause and effects 05 Conclusion and references Introduction According to the World Health Organization (WHO), violence is defined as "the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself or another person, with a high probability of causing injury, death, psychological harm, developmental delay or deprivation". In this case, domestic violence directly affects families and can affect all members of the family nucleus. Example of cause and effect Cause Effect Some time ago, the Covid 19 pandemic made us recognize many problems that were hidden in society. One of them was domestic violence, which became evident because families spent most of their time at home and were not used to being cooped up with their families. Reports of family violence to police increased in 2021 for the fifth consecutive year, according to data released on by Statistics Canada. Reports of spousal violence also increased for the seventh consecutive year. Last year, police counted 127,082 people who were victims of family violence, equivalent to a rate of 336 victims per 100,000 people in the country. 01 Solution The first propouse solution would be to disseminate information about the problem. Solution 02 Probably a second solution would be to create help centers for affected people with specialists who can assist in the process. 03 Solution The third solution to present is to create or reinforce laws to be stricter against the aggressors of the victims. Conclusion: In detail, all the solutions presented above contribute to the reduction of cases of domestic violence taking into account the rights of the victims and the appropriate actions that the country could take into account to contribute to the processes of the victims.
