ABSTRACT
The purpose of this internship is to help the internee observe the beauty work place and see if it
matches expectations. It was carried out for period of 8 weeks at La T² beauty clinic
Chapter one contains the background of the organization., location, ownership and nature , the
vision and mission statement , the objectives and activities of the organization
Chapter two cover the purpose of the internship, department worked in and responsibilities
performed how the different course units studied at the institute were applicable in the training,
the major challenges faced / how they were handled and personnel benefits gained from the
training.
Chapter three covers the conclusion of field attachment, the proposed recommendation to the
organization and also to the institute
This report also gives an overall analysis of my entire training period mentioning the objectives,
challenges, benefits and also recommendations to the challenges I encountered and observed.

CHAPTER ONE
ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND
1.0 Introduction
This chapter consists of the background of the organization location, mission statement, vision
of the organization, objectives of the organization and the organization’s structure and activities
done in the organization.
1.1 Organizational background
La T² Beauty Clinic was initiated in 2008 by the visionary Ms. Katusiime Aldriane, it stands
as a beacon of elegance and excellence in the beauty industry. The salon was originally known
as Tender Touch and was situated in Wandegeya along Kasule Road. Under the individual
ownership of Ms. Katusiime, Tender Touch quickly gained prominence for its commitment to
providing top-notch beauty services in a welcoming environment. The salon's early years were
marked by a dedication to personalized care and a growing clientele eager to experience the
artistry and transformative touch of Tender Touch.
In 2012, Tender Touch underwent a significant evolution, both in name and location, becoming
La T² Beauty Clinic. This transition marked a strategic move as the salon relocated to Lugala
trading centre along Kasubi Road. Ms. Katusiime Aldriane's vision for La T² Beauty Clinic
was to create a sophisticated and modern space that not only offered premium beauty services
but also reflected the evolving standards of the beauty industry. The new location in Lugala
became synonymous with innovation and a commitment to staying at the forefront of beauty
trends, ensuring that La T² Beauty Clinic continued to be a trusted destination for those seeking
a refined and transformative beauty experience.
Over the years, La T² Beauty Clinic has become a symbol of excellence, blending a rich history
with a contemporary approach to beauty. Ms. Katusiime Aldriane's unwavering dedication to
providing exceptional service has positioned the salon as a trendsetter in Lugala and beyond.
With roots that trace back to the inception of Tender Touch, La T² Beauty Clinic stands as a
testament to the enduring legacy of a salon that has consistently redefined beauty standards
over the years.
The salon offers different services like body piercing, Permanent tattoos, temporary tattoos,
braiding, bridal styling, make-up, manicure and pedicure weaving etc

1.1.1 Historical Background
The salon was started in 2008 by Ms. Katusiime Aldriane. It was established by an individual
ownership. Before it was called Tender Touch and was located in Wandegeya along Kasule
Road. In 2012 it relocated to Lugala trading centre along Kasubi Road.


Hair cutting, coloring and styling.

Waxing, massages, hair dressing

Nail treatments, training in salon management

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
2.0 Introduction
This chapter presents the purpose of the field attachment to students, departments under which
the intern was attached during the training. It also captures the experiences and skills gained
by the student throughout the field attachment training.
2.1 Purpose of internship
 The purpose of an internship is to provide real-world experience that enables students
to put everything they have learned into action.
 To help students gain skills that can be applied to future jobs.
 To enable students see what the work setting looks like, and if it’s a place student can
picture spending their career doing.
 Through internship student have a chance to gain the needed experience and to build
their resume.
 To develop skills and techniques in news gathering and production which can directly
be applicable to their careers
 Internships are a great way for students to acquaint themselves with the field they are
interested in.
 Internships increases a student's sense of responsibility and good work habits
 To expose students to real work environment experience gain knowledge in
writing report in technical works
 Internship experience makes students more marketable as they usually require less
training and can handle more responsibilities.
2.2 Departments worked in and responsibilities performed
La T² beauty clinic had two major departments that is to say the beauty and hair department
were the internee trained from, it was through these department that the internee performed
activities i.e. hair treatment (shampoo and set, pedicure and manicure, make up , facial , plaiting
hair styling and so forth
2.2.1 Beauty Department
The Beauty Department at La T² Beauty Clinic is a sanctuary of innovation and personalized
care, dedicated to enhancing the overall well-being and beauty of our clients. Led by skilled
beauty professionals, our department offers a comprehensive range of services, including
skincare treatments, makeup artistry, and nail care., the Beauty Department at La T² Beauty
Clinic embodies a holistic approach to beauty, ensuring that every client leaves feeling not only
pampered and refreshed but also confident

The following are the activities performed in the hair department

Facial treatment; this was performed on clients with pimples and dry skins. Through
doing this activity I improved on how to apply the mask on clients face and hence
making clients happy

Pedicure; at La T² beauty clinic every great pedicure started with the basics: shaping
the nails, soaking the feet, cuticle care, exfoliation, hydrating massage, and polish.
Hence pedicure was performed

Manicure; at La T² beauty clinic manicure consisted of filing and shaping the free
edge, pushing and clipping (with a cuticle pusher and cuticle nippers) any non-living
tissue, treatments with various liquids, massage of the hand, and the application of
fingernail polish.
2.2.2 Hair Department
The Hair Department at La T² Beauty Clinic was a haven for creativity and expertise, where
skilled hairstylists crafted personalized and trendsetting looks to suit the diverse preferences of
our clients. With a legacy rooted in the salon's history as Tender Touch, our hair professionals
were dedicated to delivering precision in cutting, colouring, and styling. From classic styles to
avant-garde transformations, our team stayed abreast of the latest trends and techniques to
ensure that La T² Beauty Clinic remained a trendsetter in the ever-evolving world of hairstyling.
The department thrived on creating a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere, where clients not
only received exceptional service but also experienced the artistry and care that defined our
commitment to excellence in the beauty industry.
The following are the activities performed in the beauty department

Plaiting; I prepared braids hair and part it into three strands, used the twisting method
to combine natural hair into braiding hair their after I completed the process using a
three-strand method until I reached the ends, the most common examples of hair the I
plaited were pencil, twist, three stem

Hair styling; understanding the basics of curl and styling gave me a good foundation
for creating the best hairstyle for most of the client’s hair, facial shape, and lifestyle
needs, by knowing so I managed to style creative styles, day styles, evening styles and
bridal styling.

Weaving; various procedures such as pasting, netting, bonding and the commonest
were like flat iron, laze, Brazilian and many using threads, scissors and spray.

2.3 Different course unit studied and how they were applied during internship
hair dressing
It has helped me to differentiate the texture of hair when working on clients.
It has helps me to know the types of relaxers I have to use according to the texture of the hair
of the client.
Business communication
It has helped me to talk to different clients in a professional ways and to read their minds
without saying anything.
Hair practical 1 and 2
It has helped me to analyse client’s hair and know their texture in order to offer or perform the
exact service.
Beauty practical
It has helped me when performing massage techniques like; how to move the fingers.
Entrepreneurship; the entrepreneurial skills I acquired like creativity and innovation have
opened my mind while on training and now I am able to start my own business using the
experience I have gained from La T² beauty clinic beauty salon during my industrial training
2.4 Challenges faced and how they were handled
 While performing pedicure and manicure I faced a problem of ridged and breaking nail
of the clients, however with time I learnt how to gently handle such nail thus this was
no longer a challenge
 During shampoo and set some of the client had very sensitive scalps thus they were
difficult to set, as a trainee I managed to solve this by seeking assistance from my
supervisor
 There was also a challenge of limited products that were to be used for training i.e.
Braids , I solved this challenge by buying my own braids to finish training
 There were long working period especially were we had to stand for long hours while
plaiting thus many of us obtained injuries i.e. back pains but as time passed we got
used
 We lacked exposure to major clients at the organization thus most of the times we
worked upon ourselves to complete training

2.5 Other Personal Benefits
 I have gained skills relating to braiding dreadlocks, I became more conversant with
locking dreads as since I practiced it more often.

I improved on my makeup skill; I was able to discern which coloring to use on a client
in regards to the different skin colors.

I gained more skills in styling since I learnt more from my fellow workers at the salon
and also had a variety of styles to do on different clients according to their interest.

I gained more skills in facial; I improved on my massage movements.

I learnt more different types of treatment for example steam and leave in treatments.

I learnt how to handle brides on site
2.6 How the organization benefited from the internee’s training
 The intern's training brought fresh perspectives and updated techniques to La T² Beauty
Clinic, enriching the skill set of the team. The exposure to innovative trends and
contemporary practices contributed to the salon's ability to offer cutting-edge beauty
services, attracting clients seeking the latest in skincare, makeup, and hairstyling.

The intern's contributions led to improved operational efficiency within the salon. By
introducing new skills and approaches, the intern played a role in optimizing
workflows, reducing service times, and enhancing overall productivity. This increased
efficiency positively impacted the client experience, contributing to heightened
satisfaction and loyalty.

RECOMMENDATION AND / CONCLSION
3.0 Introduction
This chapter consist of recommendation and Conclusion of both organization and the institute
3.1 Recommendations proposed for improvement in the Salon
The following should be done in order to improve the performance of the Salon in order to
attain its set goal;

La T² beauty clinic should inform all clients of student's intern status before student
provides any services on a client of the salon.

La T² beauty clinic should inform clients that interns wear a board identification card
on their outer garment for purposes of identification

La T² beauty clinic should consider purchasing more salon equipment’s, in return this
will increase the entry number of internees at the organization

As recommendation La T² beauty clinic should ward and recommend its best student,
thus this can motivate other trainees to improve on their performance

Policies designed should seek to boost the field attachment programs, to allow students
to have better careers of their lives.

In designing work plan, organizations should include interns indicating the activities to
be done by each. This is done allocating field supervisors.
3.2 Recommendations to the Institute

The institute should at least provide enough practical materials for the students in all
quarter because not all students can manage to buy all the materials

The internship log books should be provided to students if better outcomes are the
targets of the program.

The institute should help the students locate them to some organization they are sure of
because not all students can manage to get places for Internship

Policies designed should seek to boost the field attachment programs, to allow students
to have better careers of their lives.
3.3 Conclusion
In conclusion, my internship experience at La T² Beauty Clinic has been nothing short of
exceptional, filled with valuable learning, growth, and genuine enjoyment. The salon, under
the visionary leadership of Ms. Katusiime Aldriane, provided me with a dynamic platform to
immerse myself in the artistry and intricacies of the beauty industry. From the vibrant Hair

Department to the soothing Beauty Department, each day brought new challenges and
opportunities that allowed me to refine my skills and contribute to the salon's commitment to
excellence.
The collaborative and supportive environment at La T² Beauty Clinic made my internship not
only educational but also personally fulfilling. The salon's dedication to staying at the forefront
of industry trends, combined with the personalized care extended to each client, showcased a
commitment to creating a transformative beauty experience. The skills and knowledge gained
during my time at La T² Beauty Clinic have not only prepared me for a successful career in the
beauty industry but have also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art and craft of beauty
services.
As I move forward in my professional journey, I carry with me the valuable experiences,
mentorship, and positive atmosphere that defined my time at La T² Beauty Clinic. I am grateful
for the opportunity to contribute to the salon's legacy of excellence and for the lasting
connections forged with the talented team. La T² Beauty Clinic will always hold a special place
in my heart as the space where I not only honed my skills but also discovered a profound
