Assignment Task – SAR Pre-processing

INSTRUCTIONS:
This assignment task requires you to perform a SAR data pre-processing activity on the given
Envisat ASAR image. The activity should be easy for you to perform if you have been paying
attention during the workshop, because we have done a similar activity during the workshop; in
my estimate, it should not take you more than 2-3 hours to perform.
The assignment has to be submitted through the GREL LMS: you will see an assignment
submission option available there. Please submit your response as a SINGLE Word / PDF
document. Please submit the task assignment on time - after the deadline the LMS submission
option will automatically lock and you will not be able to submit it.

TASK:
Follow the attached lab manual and perform the pre-processing steps on the given Envisat
ASAR image. Show the following images or screenshots from ESA SNAP inside your response
document:

Calibrated image (output of the Calibration step)
Speckle filtered image (output of the Speckfile Filtering step)
Geocoded image (output of the Geocoding step)
dB converted image (output of the dB Conversion step)
Write 1-2 sentences about each image, briefly mentioning what do you observe happens to the
image after every pre-processing step.
