Rationale and Objectives
This has reference to DepEd Order No. 022, s. 2023 titled Implementing Guidelines on the School
Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2023 2024, particularly on the conduct of School-based
Midyear Performance Review and Evaluation (MPRE) and In-service Training (INSET) for Teachers.
School heads play a crucial role in the educational system as leaders and decision
makers. Their ability to innovate, and implement banner projects and school-based management
practices can have a significant impact on the quality of education provided in their institutions.
These can enhance the learning experience of students, making education more engaging,
relevant, and effective leading to improved academic outcomes.
The Schools Division of Benguet released Division Memorandum No. 365 s. 2023 titled
District Review and Evaluation Committee on Best Practices Re: SDO Benguet In Focus, which
is pursuant to RM 344 s. 2022 also known as contextualized policy on the Repository of SchoolBased Management Practices in DepEd CAR.
It has been observed that there are various innovations, projects, and best practices
being implemented and practiced by schools in the district of Bokod; however, these are not
properly documented. From among the 43 elementary and secondary schools in Bokod, there
is an average of ten proposals being submitted for review, evaluation and approval for
implementation per School Year.
On school monitoring, evaluation and adjustment reports, there is a need specific data
on the number of schools which developed evaluation tools.
Proper documentation of best practices, innovations, and projects ensures that valuable
knowledge is preserved and can be passed on to future generations of educators and education
leaders; schools can identify areas of improvements; fosters culture of learning; monitoring and
evaluation; and transparency.
In line with the MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa agenda of the
Department of Education; school heads are mandated to develop programs, projects and
activities to addresses challenges in basic education.
It is therefore necessary to that school heads will be oriented on the new guidelines on
packaging best practices, banner projects, innovations and on the design of monitoring and
evaluation tools that should be used by the schools.
III. Objectives
Generally, the activity leadership and development activity aims to orient 43 school heads of
Bokod District about updates and issuances related to school-based management practices.
Specifically, it aims to:
a. Familiarize school heads with the form and style used for the preparation of re-entry
action plans, application of education, banner project and best practices;
b. Provide technical assistance to school heads on the SMEA updates and appropriate
tools for evaluating school programs, projects and activities;
c. Inform school heads on the packaging criteria for best practices.
IV.
Methodology
School heads know the situation in their respective schools; hence, this learning and
development activity will be conducted through non-directive, facilitation, and adult
learning approaches.
