MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING THEATRE REFLECTION Name: Dunmomi Osunkunle Student Number: T00690452 Course: ENGL 1210 Lecturer: Dr. Tara Chambers Much Ado about Nothing: Theatre Reflection I really enjoyed watching this live performance of Much Ado about Nothing. Everything regarding this performance is amazing, from the actors to the costume and the lighting. These specific features are some of the things that make me like the play even more. The fact that this performance brings this play into a more modern era makes it more interesting and relatable to the audience puts the play in a light that people would not have seen before. One of the reasons the audience can tell its from a modern era is that the use of a cars, clothing like jeans were worn and the costumes at the party were of characters in this modern time, for example, there was a character that was dressed as miss piggy. Another reason the play is really good is the type of dialogue that they have in the play. It is a bit fast paced which is part of what helps bring out the fluidity of the play and the comedic aspects of each actor’s performance. I believe the only thing that is difficult for me to understand is the language, reason being that although it is in English, it combines old English and modern English together which I believe is to give it a bit of that Shakespeare effect. Besides that, the play is good and it made me laugh a lot as well. I also like the fact that during the play there were parts were the audience knew what was going on but the characters in the play like when benedick was hiding and eavesdropping on the conversation about him and Beatrice. The whole audience could see Benedick was trying to hide and the way he made a mess of himself but nobody on stage knew, also when he spit out his drink and they did not know where it came from. The audience knows about all that but the people on stage do not know. This is just an interesting watch, and I would recommend it to other people.
