Subscribe to trainer Moni’s Youtube Channel to watch PTE experiment videos: https://www.youtube.com/MoniPTEMAGIC/ • Read Aloud & Describe Image Key to Success: Fluency, Pronunciation and Content Read Aloud Get on your platform and start practicing speaking. The tips for this section are to maintain good speed (not too fast, not too slow, but natural), open your mouth wide to let the pronunciation come out clearly, ignore/mispronounce the hard words and, and only try to speak only what is given. PRACTICE: o Intensively 20-40 Read Aloud o Get your trainer to give you feedback Describe Image Get your template out and learn it by heart to the point where you can speak it without hesitation or problem, try to speak from 30~35 seconds PRACTICE: o Go over all types of pictures (data, graphs, process and pictures) o Do at least 20 Describe Image o Get trainer to give you feedback www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au DAY 2: BUILDING THE FOUNDATION Write from Dictation and Repeat Sentence Key to Success: Most Repeated Question + HARD WORK • Write from Dictation Bear in mind that this is THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTION in the exam. You have to make sure you do it to your best by learning from Repeated Question from the Online Platform (www.ptemagicpractice.com). If your platform does not have it, or you do not have a Platform, then SORRY, your chance of passing is EXTREMELY LOW. Don’t Forget to Use the ALTERNATIVE method in this section to score your full mark. It does not matter whether you target 50 or 79, everyone has to learn the REPEATED QUESTIONs (~200 sentences by heart) PRACTICE: Do as many as possible. Minimum 30/day • Repeat Sentence Don’t be afraid or panic when you do this. Remember this section has long and short sentences. Your job is to make sure all of the sentences will be repeated with more than half. This section does NOT required FAST SPEED, it requires CLEAR PRONUNCIATION and CALMNESS. Listen to a sentence, organize that sentence in your head and CAREFULLY SPEAK OUT. Ignore Grammar and Logics. PRACTICE: Do at least 50 RS/day www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au Day 3: KEEP DRIVING FORWARD This 3rd day you need to continue practicing on what you’ve done on Day 1, but also increase the work to complete day 2. This day is more about Listening and note-taking. Retell Lecture & Summarize Spoken Text Key to success: Note-taking, template and grammar. • Retell Lecture Similar to Describe Image, get your template out and learn it by heart. Keep this in mind “LISTENING DEPENDS on SPEAKING”. You must take note, if possible in ideas rather than keyword; but if your target is 50 or below, you can just take single keywords or phrases. Though you need to practice note-taking on this section, you must remember this section is dependent largely on Speaking Performance. PRACTICE: o Do 10 RL/day o Get your trainer to provide feedback o Do 10 RL/day o Get your trainer to provide feedback www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au Retell Lecture & Summarize Spoken Text • Summarize Spoken Text This section for target 50 or below, you can apply RL template as well. Keep in mind this section requires “ACCURATE GRAMMAR”, I said “Accurate – Not Fancy”. Remember the requirement is 70 words do don’t exceed the limit. Take note as much as possible, preferably ideas over keywords, but again it depends on your note-taking skills and the level of difficulty of the audio. Try to write as similarly to the audio as possible. ONCE AGAIN, GRAMMAR – GRAMMAR – GRAMMAR. PPRACTICE: o Do 10 RL/day o Get your trainer to provide feedback www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au Essay & Summarize Written Text Key to success: Template, Techniques and GRAMMAR. • Essay Template! Template! Template! This is everything you need to successfully pass this exam. Unless your writing is proficient then you can write in your free style, but DO NOT FORGET – it’s only 20 minutes. The REPEATED QUESTION on the PLATFORM will have 20 questions from which you will DEFINITELY get one of them for your real exam (well! Unless you’re extremely unlucky, or you did not practice all of them) Learn the difference between ideas and example. GOOD TIP: Try to make up your example so that it sounds more specific (number, figures, names, etc.) though it could be fake. PRACTICE: • o Learn your template o Do 2 ESSAYS and send to your TRAINER straight away o Time yourself o Get your trainer to provide feedback Summarize Written Text Follow the technique to pass this one easily. REMEMBER you can only WRITE 1 SENTENCE -> 1 FULL STOP (.), avoid (!) & (?) I said “REDUCE” not “REMOVE” so continue to practice from Day 2 & 3. The things you learn today will also require no assistance from your trainer, so you can spend a bit of time for yourself. • FIB- Reading & Writing & FIB – Reading Key to success: Grammar & Vocab This section is straightforward, it’s like a Multiple-choice question. You tick the answer that you think is correct. Good TIPS: check out all the options first before tackling the question. If you don’t know the meaning of the words, CHOOSE RANDOMLY then MOVE ON. Spend MORE time on the EASY ones, and LESS time on the HARD ones. Spend NO MORE than 3’ on each question. PRACTICE: o Do 40 questions from REPEATED QUESTIONS/day o Learn Maximum 10 new vocab /day (1 from each question) www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au FIB- Reading & Writing & FIB – Reading • FIB – Reading Similar to FIB RW, you choose the right answer but by dragging and dropping. GOOD TIPS: CATEGORIZE the Answers, then find out what the blanks are missing. Similar Rules applied, MORE time on the EASY ones, and LESS time on the HARD ones. Spend NO MORE than 3’ on each question. PRACTICE: o Do 40 questions from REPEATED QUESTIONS/day o Learn Maximum 10 new vocab /day (1 from each question) www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au DAY 5: GET READY FOR MOCK TEST This day will be spent for the rest of the sections in the exams. ALSO, do NOT FORGET that you continue to work on your Day 2 & 4 mainly, ignore Day 3 for now. These sections for todays are only important for Target 79~90. So if you aim target 65 or below, don’t worry too much. Just learn how to do this, then spend your time practicing. • FIB-Listening This section requires your note-taking skills. You have to listening and take-note as the same time GOOD TIPS: Eyes NEVER off the screen. Before clicking NEXT, DOUBLE CHECK the SPELLING & GRAMMAR of those words. Believe it or not, no matter how hard the questions can be, there will be at least 1~3 boxes that any student can do. PRACTICE: o Do 10 FIB-L o Make sure you can get >50% correct www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au • Highlight Incorrect Words This section will allow you to click the words that are pronounced differently from the text GOOD TIPS: NEVER CLICK if you are NOT SURE about that word. It has Negative Marking. And you can rest easy on Numbers, Figures, Names, or Special Terminologies, they won’t put the wrong words there. YOU NEED A PLATFORM to PRACTICE this. PRACTICE: o Do 20 HIW o Make sure you don’t click any WRONG options (try to protect your score) www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au Re-order Paragraphs & Answer Short Question (*PTE90) Key to success: Quick-thinking, Decisiveness • Re-order Paragraphs With this section, you need to quickly put the random paragraphs into a logical ORDER. Remember, you SHOULD NOT spend OVER 3’ for each question. GOOD TIPS: Try to go through each paragraph first, try to UNDERSTAND the GENERAL MEANING only, not DETAILS, and Find out the first box. LINKING WORDS are normally placed 3rd or 4th Box. YOU NEED A PLATFORM to PRACTICE this. PRACTICE: o • Do 10 ROP ANSWER Short Question This section will ask you 10 questions and you need to answer in SHORT FORM (1~3 words, not a SENTENCE) GOOD TIPS: Repeat the Answer Twice. Focus on Pronunciation. If unsure, just speak whatever, DO NOT LEAVE IT UNANSWERED. PRACTICE: o GO THROUGH 150 questions on REPEATED QUESTION of the PLATFORM. The Real Exam will come from here mainly. www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au • Multiple-Choice Questions (*PTE90) Key to success: Understanding! Don’t be overthinking. The answer is simpler than you expect. For All MCQ, it’s best to only choose one answer no matter if it is MCQMultiple Answer or Single Answer. ONLY CHOOSE ONE. WHY? Ask your trainer! PRACTICE: Do 2-3 questions for each type • Highlight Correct Summary & Select Missing Words (*PTE90) Key to success: UNDERSTANDING! For both of these sections, the tips won’t play too much of a help if you don’t understand what is going on. REMEMBER. You have to listen the entire audio before going to the next one, so my best advice is SIMPLY Listen and CHOOSE what you think is RIGHT. The answer normally does not absolute words like “perfectly, absolutely, never, ….” And it does NOT SOUND exactly the same as in the audio. PRACTICE: o Do 2-3 questions for each type www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au DAY 6: HIT THE FIELD This day will be spent on doing your mock test. You have to undertake your mock test to examine and position your level and best predict your outcome. Make sure you do the MOCK TEST under strict conditions including: No phone or Facebook, no disturbing noise, no Pausing or even listening to YOUTUBE, no help from Grammarly or any type of spell/grammar assistance. GO TO THE MOCK AND CLICK START, LEAVE YOURSELF 3 UNINTERRUPTED HOURS. www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au The Mock Test on MAGIC PLATFORM will automatically save itself so You DON’T HAVE to record it. Once you finish your test, quickly rewrite how you perform it and wait for the result to come out. As soon as the result come out, send it to your trainer and ask for feedback. The trainer will go through the Mock Test with you. Take note of what they trainer advises you to Improve. Scored Report & detailed analysing www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au DAY 7: REVISE and GOOD-BYE (or RETRY) On this day, it is important for you to remember that, your exam is coming soon. If your exam is due tomorrow, there is no need and no point undertaking another test or practicing intensively on any sections. What you need to do on this day is to revise what the trainer has advised you about your performance. Go back to what you have done well and reinforce the skills. For what you have done bad, carefully go through it one more time but REMEMBER NOT TO STRESS on it too much. Your exam is tomorrow and you need to be in your best shape. BE OPTISMISTIC and BE CONFIDENT. GOING TO BED EARLY is a good way to prepare you for your big day. THINK POSITIVELY and TRUST YOURSELF. 1-hour BEFORE the Test, Speak over a few RA and DI to warm up your mouth. If your test is not due tomorrow, you should repeat this cycle and give yourself another try on the MOCK TEST until you pass. www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au Conclusion It is the same for everyone when it comes to dealing with exam or facing a challenge. However, never forget that an exam is never the destination. It is solely an instantaneous capture of where you are at (like a screenshot). You might be doing very well or you just somehow do not show your best (like a silly pose for a photo). And FAILURE ISN’T THE END OF THE WORD. Believe in yourself, work your hardest, do your best and leave the rest to God. Never Regret! At PTE MAGIC, we believe that each person has the power to make things better. And WE BELIEVE IN YOU! YES – You Can Do It. www.ptemagicpractice.com info@ptemagic.com.au
