THE SOLAR BOX COOKER
A solar box cooker is a device that utilizes the energy from the sun to cook food. It consists of
a box-shaped structure made up of black-painted timber, which is an excellent absorber of
solar radiation.
The interior of the box is lined with aluminium foil, which reflects the incoming solar
radiation towards the bottom of the box.

the box. This increases the amount of solar radiation absorbed by the box, thus increasing its
efficiency.
Inside the solar box cooker is a blackened saucepan, which absorbs and retains heat

heat generated by the absorbed solar radiation.
