This programme has been specifically designed in response to a growing need of business leaders to challenge current business practice and devise new methods for progression in times of technological and geopolitical change, and increasing uncertainty. By combining an academically rigorous education with business practice, the programme will enable students to update their business knowledge and enhance their analytical and critical thinking capabilities through modules delivered across the globe in Durham (UK), Paris (France) and Tokyo (Japan). The GDBA also requires students to produce a doctoral thesis – an original piece of research focused on solving a core issue within their own industry or organisation. With their career experience and their new academic learning, this thesis will create real business impact and value. Programme structure The Global DBA Durham-emlyon is an executive doctoral degree programme and is co-taught by faculty from both Durham University Business School and emlyon business school. You will receive a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) degree from each Business School and also be co-supervised by faculty, a team of academic supervisors, from both institutions. The programme consists of five core modules in its first two years and independent research study thereafter leading to the writing up and defence of a DBA thesis. It involves part-time study over 4 to 6 years, structured in a way that you can combine your demanding executive career with periods of intense study and individual research progress supported by online resources and blended learning platforms provided by both institutions.
