Comic Relief is a charity that raises money to help poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and in the world’s poorest communities. Since it began, Red Nose Day has raised over £1 billion to help those in need. Last year alone it raised over £42 million! How old is Comic Relief? • Comic Relief began in 1985. It has two main events to raise money: Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. • The first Red Nose Day took place in 1988 and raised a whopping £15 million! • Sport Relief kicked off in 2002 and raised over £14 million in its first year.
