“The strength of the team is each individual member.
The strength of each member is the team.” – Phil Jackson
A Team Charter is your team’s agreement among the members of your team
on how you will operate to ensure success both individually and together as
a team.
The Team Charter development process ensures an awareness of team goals,
anticipation of roles team members will play, processes and ground-rules for
working together, and exploration of team member interests and styles that
may impact team effectiveness as well as agreeing how to resolve issues and
make sure all team members are accountable individually.
The Team Charter is a flexible / living document that you will continually
update to serve the evolving needs of the team as you work on new tasks and
goals together.
Every time you go into a new team, you will be required to create a Team
charter together.
Follow these guidelines on how to create and use a Team Charter:
1. The entire team must meet, discuss and answer the questions below in
writing. (Use as much space as you need)
1. The team then creates, agrees and commits to a formal document that
will serve as the Team Charter.
1. Each team member expresses their agreement to the commitments by
signing the Team Charter.
1. A copy of your Team Charter needs to be made visible during each team
meeting, so that team members can refer to the document to reinforce
agreements made. It should also be available to course instructors, who
may want to ensure that you have a plan for completing their
assignments.
1. The Team Charter is a flexible working document, feel free to edit - upon
agreement of the team members, to serve the evolving needs of the team.

CHRISTOFFER LOTHE
I hold a bachelor's degree in leadership, HR, and Organizational
Psychology from BI Norwegian Business School. My degree taught
me the critical areas of organizational psychology, including
management, strategy, data analytics, and economics.
Before my undergraduate degree, I served one year in the Royal
Norwegian Navy as an assistant for the Task Force HV-02.
One of the most transformative years in my life was in my second
year of high school when I was accepted into A+ World Academy,
a Swiss International Exchange School that took me on a 314-day
circumnavigation journey with field studies in over 20 ports
across 6 different continents.
My professional experience includes a year-long internship as a
Communication & HR intern with Nel Hydrogen, a global leading
hydrogen company. My role involved engagement in ongoing
projects with day-to-day operational activities. This internship
deepened my understanding of the global energy market and
inspired me to pursue a master's degree in international business.
In addition to my academic and professional experiences, I have
also engaged in volunteering work. I spent six weeks in Jaipur,
India, working with elephants undergoing rehabilitation, and I was
also one of the speakers during a fundraising campaign for the
Impande foundation, which aims to provide educational
opportunities for young people in KwaZulu Natal.
I have had the privilege of immersing myself in various cultures
and communities around the world. These experiences have
opened my eyes and my understanding of the world.

ELOF NORLIN
I studied my undergraduate in London, doing a Sports
Management degree. During my degree I was studying concepts of
business in the sports sector, however I realised that I was more
interested in studying business, rather than sports concepts,
therefore I wanted to pursue my postgraduate in International
Business.
During the course I gathered some work experience through
internship at London Irish Rugby club, where I held the position
of Business Development Executive. This role focused on the
development of the women’s rugby team, where I had the task of
sourcing and contacting possible partners and sponsors. In
addition to connecting them with the club. This required me to
perform market research and examine possible opportunities for
the club.
Prior to University I have been involved in different leadership
roles involving academics and sport. These roles have given me
experience as a ‘manager’ and the use of communication skills in
many different social environments.
Furthermore, my time boarding at an international school has
given me experience operating in multicultural environments and
has made me comfortable working in diverse group settings.

MADDIE WEIN
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2023 with a degree
in psychology & entrepreneurship as well as a Ross School of
Business certificate in the Sales Program. Throughout my
academic career I learned about marketing, entrepreneurship, &
applicable business practices for society. I have created an oncampus business product that required direct & indirect sales &
marketing. On the side I worked with the Michigan Daily to write
for their newspaper & the student government programming
board to arrange student activities to enhance the wellbeing of
student population. I also had a position in the Economic Growth
Institute to help with their consulting & research side of business
growth for companies in the Ann Arbor area. I helped launch
Ripple startup app & took on other marketing jobs that have
allowed me to polish my skills in the industry. In sum, my
thinking style would be creative, and I would describe myself as
an innovative thinker that likes to strategize outside of the box.
Favourite experience thus far: graduating high school early &
going on a 3-month gap semester trip to Fiji, Australia, & New
Zealand! Bonding with the other cultures & learning / assisting
with their daily life preparation.

MELANIE BURITICA
I did my undergrad at the University of Kent - I studied Politics
and International Relations with a Year in Journalism.
I have previously worked in retail, for most of my time I worked in
a luxury omni-channel retailer: John Lewis and then did a few
months at Adidas! Both were fun to work at and provided me with
an insight to customer behaviours/habits, market research etc
and I was able to develop my sense of commercial awareness.
Once I graduated, I went to work for the Camden Council under
the HS2 project as a community liasion which allowed me to work
alongside the local community and other stakeholders amongst
the different teams at Camden.
I currently work at the London School of Economics part time in
their biggest student accommodation hall which is never dull as I
help to look after a building full of undergraduate students.

This is important as it will help the team better understand the skills,

SOPHIE MARIN
After completing my bachelor's degree in business
administration, I was sure that I wanted to continue focusing on
business, but from an international perspective. As the daughter
of an entrepreneurial family whose company operates worldwide,
this decision was not difficult for me.
During my studies, I was the head of the social media team for
the student council. The responsibility of leading a large team of
students and interacting with companies helped me a lot to
develop personally.
After completing my high school diploma at the Business High
School, I worked at an internationally active medium-sized
company for half a year, where I introduced the Basic Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR) throughout Germany. I was
responsible for coordination with external consultants and the
management. Also, during my internship semester and as a
working student at MARS, a consulting company for due diligence
in the supply chain, I took responsibility for several projects that
required independent work, planning and organizational time
management.
Beginning of 2023 I went on a world trip for 7 months. During this
time, I met many new people from different countries. To adapt
to the culture in the respective country and to experience it was
an indescribable experience that taught me a lot: To see life from
a different perspective, to no longer take the most normal things
in Europe for granted and the art of letting things come to you
and going with the flow instead of planning everything through.
Please describe the educational background and work experience of each

This is important as it will help the team better understand the skills,

VANESSA SPELLINI
Right after High school I went to Mexico for 3 months to get some
work experience before starting my bachelor's in hospitality. I
worked in a boutique hotel on a small island near Cancun.
I graduated from Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in February 2023
with a bachelor's in international hospitality management.
As part of my undergraduate program, we had to undertake two
internships. I did an operational internship in Toronto as a guest
service agent in a luxury hotel and an administrative one in
Madrid in a pharmaceutical company in business development
and marketing.
From March 2023 to July 2023, I did an internship in a very wellknown Swiss bank as a Portfolio management intern in Geneva. I
am interested in developing my knowledge in finance.
My undergrad university taught me a lot of basics in different
industries, from marketing to real estate finance, Human
resources, and more. They focused a lot on developing soft skills
and personal skills by surrounding their students with
multicultural people, creating a very professional environment,
and always working in teams of 6 in order to prepare us for our
future professions. For example, we had to go to university with
a professional dress code, teaching us the ways of business and
being always the best version of ourselves.
I always loved traveling and being surrounded by people from
different countries and backgrounds.
How might the diversity of the team (e.g., culture of national origin, race,
gender, knowledge, background) be an opportunity and/or challenge?
DIVERSITY WITHIN OUR TEAM CAN BE AN OPPORTUNITY
We come from different backgrounds, offering unique
views on challenges and varied cultural experiences.
Having identified personal traits from the ‘DISC
personality assessment’, we have detected that our
team is well balanced in different personality traits.
Having two members as I, two as D, one S and one C.
Our diverse skills and values foster creativity, improve
decision-making, and enhance problem-solving. We
adapt better and gain a broader market understanding.
With a global perspective from team members
representing
different
countries,
we
share
responsibility for innovation and success.
DIVERSITY WITHIN OUR TEAM CAN BE A CHALLENGE
Diversity within our group, while valuable, can also
present challenges. Different cultural perspectives
may lead to prejudice or misunderstandings. Our
varied values can affect time management and create
further obstacles in the decision-making process.
Disparities in skills within our group might hinder our
ability to execute tasks effectively. We believe
decision-making may be difficult when conflicting
perspectives on how to proceed arise. Communication
issues may emerge due to language challenges and
implicit biases which means ensuring accountability
may become more complex. It's crucial for us to
address these challenges and work collaboratively to
leverage our diversity effectively.
How are you planning to overcome any difficulties relating to the
challenges?
DIVERSITY WITHIN THE TEAM AS A CHALLENGE – OUR
TEAM’S PLANS TO OVERCOME THESE
To overcome the challenges of diversity within our
group, we are committed to creating a lean culture
that values efficiency and innovation. Effective
communication
is
central
to
our
approach,
encompassing diverse communication styles, open
feedback, positive reinforcement, and honesty. We
prioritize
personal
accountability,
emphasizing
constructive criticism and learning from mistakes. A
growth mindset is encouraged to facilitate continuous
improvement.
We
aim
to
create
a
respected
environment within the group, characterized by
openness and non-judgment, which allows every
member to grow. Building personal relationships
outside of our primary context helps us better
understand each other and builds trust. Collectively,
we work on creating common goals and identifying
each group member's strengths and weaknesses,
allowing us to leverage our diversity as a source of
strength and progress towards shared success.

DEVELOPMENT GOALS OF
INDIVIDUAL TEAM
MEMBERS
What are the professional and personal development goal(s) of individual
team members? (in particular - what does each team member want to
improve or accomplish)?
Consider one specific personal and professional challenge that each team
member would like to work on and would like to ask for the support of the
team.
Working in a team also means supporting its individual members. It is
critical that Psychological Safety is established when working in a team,
providing each individual team member with opportunities in a safe
environment to test out / work on new skills.
Psychological safety allows open conversations and members to feel safe
and dare to be vulnerable and share their developmental areas with the
team so that they can work on them with the support and understanding
of their team members.
After a discussion, in the table below, indicate one personal and one
professional goal or challenge each team member would like to work on,
that they would like to ask for the support of the team.

WORKING TOGETHER
In this section of the Team Charter, start by laying a foundation for your
collaboration by indicating how you plan to get to know each other better
and how you aim to build trust amongst each other. Once you have
completed these initial parts, discuss which ground rules you will lay out
for your team, how will you communicate with each other, how will you
make decisions within the team and how will you effectively deal with
disagreements. When it comes to accountability - how will you make sure
individual team members meet their agreements and what do you do
when they don’t?
What’s our plan for getting to know each other better and building trust?
HOW DO WE PLAN TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER
AND BUILD TRUST IN OUR TEAM?
To be able to rely on each other we must create a sense of trust,
this can be developed by spending time with each other, not just
with schoolwork but also outside of school. This requires effort
from each team member as trust is built over time.
To make sure we don’t break the trust between the group we need
to commit to our goals and values, time-management (show up to
meetings), communication (reply to group members and be active),
and all put in the work to the best of our ability.
WORKING TOGETHER
What working norms and shared values / purpose guide our team? What are the
ground rules (behaviour, attendance, code of conduct etc.) which your team
members will follow as set out in this agreement?
Norms and values govern the way you behave within your team and how you treat
each other. Identify the dominant values of each team member and aim to create
a shared value and norm system that everyone feels comfortable with, and which
will help you set yourself apart from other teams in order to achieve your goals.
OUR WORKING NORMS, VALUES AND GROUND RULES THAT
SET OUT HOW WE COLLABORATE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A
TEAM:
Respect and Inclusivity – We will respect each other's diverse perspectives,
backgrounds, and opinions whilst ensuring all team members have a voice.
Accountability – We will acknowledge and take responsibility for mistakes and
support to each other to improve.
Collaboration – We will encourage the sharing of knowledge/skills and recognize
and celebrate team achievements. Also establish trustworthy relationships.
Conflict Resolution – We will encourage open discussions to address disagreements
and focus on finding solutions rather than assigning blame. Also, regularly provide
constructive feedback to help team members grow.
Punctuality/Time management and Commitment - We aim to be punctual for
meetings and deadlines.
Honor commitments and agreements made within the team. We will also push
ourselves to minimise procrastination.
We have identified our DISC personalities, as acknowledging our individual
strengths and weaknesses within the team will allow us to collaborate and
communicate more efficiently.
D: Mel and Chris
I: Elof and Maddie
S: Sophie
C: Vanessa
Therefore, we can consider who may be more prone to speak, present, analyse
data, manage time, take charge etc, therefore we can delegate work efficiently.
Acknowledging the weaknesses of our personalities, we can help each other in
developing the weaknesses which another team member may hold as a strength.
WORKING TOGETHER
How do we communicate with each other? What communication tools and
methods will be used by the team and for what situations? How do we
coordinate and summarise communication and make sure we don’t ‘spam’
each other and overwhelm team members with too many messages? How
do we deal with non-responding members?
TEAM COMMUNICATION AGREEMENTS
WhatsApp group
Microsoft Teams Channel
In person/on campus
WORKING TOGETHER
How do we organise meetings? How will you ensure everyone knows when
and where the meetings are and that everyone comes to meetings
prepared? Who sends out communication?
What meeting dates and times work best for each team member? (booking
rooms, sending agendas, sending pre-work to keep meetings focused)
TEAM MEETING AGREEMENTS
Calendar invites via Microsoft Teams from Sophie
Scheduled via either
1. WhatsApp group (decision when and where we meet through
the voting option)
2. teams meeting online
3. In person (Sophie is going to book the room before and let
everyone knows where to meet)
For every new project we define who is doing what till when. We
are using the To-Do List in Microsoft team that every group
member knows what the other one is doing.
We create a separate folder where we write our questions in order
to answer or discuss them at the meeting.
WORKING TOGETHER
Accountability – How will you ensure each person meets their agreements
to the teamwork?
Explain how you will hold each other accountable. Remember – do not
leave meetings without agreeing – Who Does What by When. Consider
what you will do when team members don’t meet their commitments.
What are the consequences? What steps will you take when this happens?
Exceptional teams understand how important accountability is and
following through on agreements. Remember, when you work toward
shared goals, sometimes you need to let go of your personal goals/
priorities in order to achieve team objectives. This can be hard at times,
however, overcoming this tension is what sets great teams apart from
average performing teams.
ACCOUNTABILITY AGREEMENTS – WDWBW - AGREEING WHO
DOES WHAT BY WHEN WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT
CONTRIBUTING TO TEAMWORK?
Regularly update each other with progress with ongoing
projects.
Schedule weekly meetings to discuss current task/next steps.
If someone fails to attend meeting regularly, the harmonizer
(Elof) will reach out to the individual on a 1-1 to understand
what is going on and to make the suitable arrangements
regarding workload etc.
WORKING TOGETHER
How will your team make decisions (e.g., consensus, majority, team leader
makes final decisions, etc.)? Also consider situations when there is an
urgency to make a decision. How can this be done in line with the shared
values of the team?
OUR PLAN TO MAKE DECISIONS
Our decision-making plan revolves around active engagement and
transparent discussions. Every team member is encouraged to use
their voice effectively, ensuring that diverse perspectives are
considered. We embrace brainstorming as a means to explore various
angles.
When making that require urgency, we would gather the top three
options and initiating a candid conversation led by the team leader.
This process allows us to weigh the pros and cons of each option,
ultimately reaching a consensus or compromise that best serves our
collective goals.
Our plan to make decisions is to incorporate different techniques and
methods, such as:
Six thinking hats which allows for open discussion of different
perspectives.
Red-emotion, Yellow-optimist/benefit (creative thinking), Greenexploring ideas which hasn’t been done before (wacky), Bluethinking (planning), Black-judgement (focused on risks), Whitefactual (informational).
Six hats are used by individuals and groups to separate out
conflicting styles of thinking.
WORKING TOGETHER
How will disagreements and conflict be handled?
Make sure you state facts and never make it personal. Aim to find a
resolution / learning outcome and move forward in a constructive manner,
whilst keeping communication and meetings objective. (Consider
communication, meetings organised, decision-making responsibilities;
accountability, working out a way forward; handling emotions;
appropriate behaviours; meeting team objectives).
Team issues to the Program Dean should only be escalated in exceptional
circumstances.
The team and the team leader are jointly responsible for finding a resolution of
conflict and moving forward constructive manner.
This includes organising meetings; communicating with the entire team and
focusing on coming to a resolution). A minimum of 3 attempts must be made to
resolve the issue within the whole team to work out a way to move forward. In
case of non-agreement, and escalation, the evidence of these attempts will
need to be submitted to the Program Dean that they will investigate further.
This should only be a last resort.
OUR PLAN TO DEAL WITH DISAGREEMENTS CONSTRUCTIVELY
Our strategy for addressing disagreements constructively is rooted in
open communication and active listening. We acknowledge that
disagreements are inevitable, but our commitment lies in not taking
them personally. Instead, we adopt a mindset of "us against the
problem, not us against each other." This approach allows us to view
conflicts as opportunities for growth and learning, where divergent
opinions can lead to innovative solutions. By fostering a culture of
open dialogue and attentive listening, we ensure that disagreements
are harnessed as a means to strengthen our collective problemsolving capabilities.
WORKING TOGETHER
How will we ensure that our team celebrates wins/accomplishments,
regardless of how small or significant?
OUR PLAN TO CELEBRATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Go for a drink; whether it’s a coffee or a cocktail!
Grab a meal.
Schedule an activity e.g., if it's in Christmas, we could go to a
market or have a traditional Christmas dinner.

OUR TEAM STORY
Once upon a time, there were six extraordinary individuals scattered across the
continents. There was Chris from Norway, Elof from Sweden, Sophie from Germany,
Vanessa from Switzerland, Maddie from the USA, and Mel from London. They each
had their unique backgrounds, languages, and quirks.
Every day, they followed their own adventures, speaking Norwegian, Swedish,
German, Swiss German, English, in their own corners of the world. Chris spent his
days exploring the breath-taking fjords, Elof navigated the picturesque forests,
Sophie brewed the finest beer, Vanessa crafted Swiss watches with precision,
Maddie worked on Wall Street, and Mel sipped tea while debating Brexit.
One day, fate decided to play a little trick. Each of them received a letter of
acceptance to Hult International Business School in Central London, known for its
diverse student body. Their paths were about to converge.
Because of that, Chris, Elof, Sophie, Vanessa, Maddie and Mel packed their bags
and embarked on a journey that would lead them to a new world of international
business studies. They were excited, anxious, and utterly bewildered by the
diversity they were about to encounter.
Because of that, they found themselves in a multicultural classroom where
conversations flowed like a symphony of languages. Chris shared stories of Viking
conquests and the northern lights, Elof spoke of midsummer celebrations, Sophie
explained the art of Oktoberfest, Vanessa fascinated everyone with Swiss precision,
Maddie analysed the bustling American markets, and Mel charmingly debated the
complexities of British politics. Laughter, misunderstandings, and a babel of
languages filled the air.
Until finally, the six of them realized that their differences were not barriers but
bridges. They started helping each other understand the complexities of
international business, bridging language gaps, and leveraging their diverse
backgrounds to tackle global challenges. They became the dream team, a united
force, ready to take on the world of international business together, and so, at Hult
International Business School, they discovered that the true magic of international
business lay in the rich tapestry of global perspectives woven together by their
unique stories.
