Scenario A: Get through to contact
 Greet contact formally
 Introduce self using full name, and address the name of the person who
referred me to call contact
 Inquire if contact is available
 Explain purpose of call
 Include information about the company/contact
 Inquire about setting-­‐up an interview or meeting with contact
 Thank contact for their time
Good morning, Mr. __________. My name is Candice Korecki, and _________________
recommended that I call you. Do you have a few minutes to speak with me?

I am currently completing a Public Relations diploma at Canadore College, and as part
of this program I am required to complete a field placement, which I want to achieve

worked with a number of national clients such as Motorola, Coca-­‐Cola Canada, and
Ontario Wood Works! and I want to learn from professionals with that type of industry
experience.

 Ask secretary if it is possible to leave a message for contact
 Explain purpose of the call
 Provide contact information and availability
 Thank secretary by name

speak with Mr. _______________. Is he available?

 Introduce self using full name, and address the name of the person who
referred me to call contact
 Inquire if contact is available
 (Contact does not want to talk)
 Ask for a more appropriate time to call
 (Contact explains they are too busy to talk)
 Politely thank contact for their time
